Marcus's POV

Recognition flashed across his face and a flash of something like understanding suddenly passed between us. But he remained silent, clenching his jaw tight as if he'd rather die than betray his employer. 

My patience snapped. I twisted the knife just enough to draw a thin line of blood, watching with sinister satisfaction as his face paled. 

"You are going to tell me what I need to know," I said, dropping my voice to a deadly whisper. "Or I'll make you regret ever working for that asshole."

"She's fine!" The man gasped, his voice trembling. "She's fine, okay? Please don't—don't kill me. 

"Fine? Don't you fucking lie to me?" I said, fighting the urge to push the knife into his throat. " I know the kind of man that Nicholas is. If you are lying—"
