Chapter 8

Amanda's POV

The words froze on my tongue as I felt a presence behind me. I turned slowly, my heart sinking when I saw Sebastian standing in the doorway. His broad shoulders filled the frame, his piercing gaze fixed on me.

"Your time is up," he said, his voice calm but carrying an edge that made my stomach churn.

I glanced at the clock on the wall. "But it's not—"

"I said your time is up," he repeated, his tone firmer now, brooking no argument.

The room went silent. My parents exchanged a quick, uneasy look, but I couldn't focus on them anymore. Sebastian's gaze felt like a weight pressing down on me, and I knew better than to argue. Without another word, I walked past him toward the door, my heart pounding in my chest.

Sebastian led me outside and I followed quietly into the car. We zoomed out of my parents compound with a word and my parents didn't bother coming out to wave me goodbye.
