Chapter 9

Marcus's POV

My heart pounded like a drum as I stood behind the bathroom door. Every second stretched endlessly as I twisted my fist, ready to swing it at the man who was about to open the door.

The same man who had embarrassed me at the chain Amanda's wedding day. I was starting to feel a satisfaction of payback even though I knew what the end would be when he eventually catches me. However, I wanted to hit him back.

My breath was shallow and weak, I could feel my palms grow sweaty as I waited. If the bodyguard found me, it was over—not just for me but for Amanda as well. I didn't want anything bad to happen to her, but still, I couldn't stop tThe urge to punch this man once he steps on here.

The door knob turned slowly, the faint creaky sound filling the small tiled room where I was hiding. My muscles coiled, every part of me edged. But suddenly, a sharp jarring sound of a phone broke through the rising tension.
