Chapter 10

Marcus's POV

Even though I knew I didn't have much of a chance, I gripped tight on the rusty jack, ready to fight.

"What's going on here?" I husky voice called from a distance as the person's footsteps grew louder. The man seems to be superior to the other.

"Nothing….just about to check his booth." The first guard answered.

"Leave that, I need you to guard the service yard, there's an intruder in the building. Mr Patrick here is irrelevant, he had probably stolen some old tiles just like he always does." The superior guard instructed, his voice had a hint of irritation as he mentioned the driver's name.

"Roger, sir!" The guard saluted and rushed away, leaving the driver and the superior guard alone in an awkward silence.

I felt a bit at ease but I still didn't let go of the jack, still ready to swing the metal at the superior guard if he decides to pop the trunk open.
