Amanda's POV
I didn't know how long I sat there, my body shaking with fear as I stared at the door. My heart raced and I couldn't stop myself from imagining the horrible things that Nicholas would do to me once he found out.
When the door swung open, I flinched. Nicholas walked in, his blue eyes were cold and sharp like shards of ice. Behind him, Sebastian stood at the doorway, his expression smug.
"Amanda," Nicholas said, his voice calm. "Is there anything you'd like to tell me?"
I swallowed hard as my hands trembled. "Nicholas, it's not what you think. The man must have been a burglar, he threatened to kill me if I told anyone about him." I lied, and I was surprised at how fast my brain managed to cook up a lie like that.
