Chapter 154: Signing a Contract

Chapter 154: Signing a Contract

Xiao Jiang remained quiet. Indeed, he didn't have his boss's contact details; otherwise, he wouldn't have had to queue for so long.

"Where is that milk tea shop? I'll find the boss and ask her to come here to meet you," proposed another, less tactful individual compared to Jiang Yi.

"That boss operates a legitimate business. Isn't it inappropriate to just haul her over like this?" Jiang Yi muttered under his breath. Unfortunately, others overheard him and shot him dirty looks.

"Why are you glaring at him? Did he say anything wrong? If you dare to drag someone here without notice, I'll show you how we deal with you!"

What the old man in the bed hated most was his family members using their privileges to get up to "crooked dealings." Now they wanted to forcibly bring a stranger to his hospital room? They practically wished him an earlier death!

"That's not it! Dad, we're just worried about you. We only wanted her to make milk tea for you—no ulterior motives. Don't worry, I won't do anything illegal!"

The middle-aged man next to the bed repeatedly assured him, and the old man's expression softened slightly.

Today was the fourth day since opening, and Yun Zijin dropped by, worried that Qin Sitong might struggle with two newly hired employees by herself.

But today, Yun didn't work behind the counter; rather, she helped on the customer-facing side. If customers chose to dine in, she would bring their orders to their tables.

Before long, Lingyi and the others intervened, insisting that Miss Yun was born to be a princess and shouldn't do such menial tasks. Since Lingyi and his team took over, Yun was happy to take a break, so long as the shop ran smoothly.

After confirming that everything was operating normally, Yun left with several bodyguards and soon appeared at Teikyo University's president's office.

Upon her arrival, she found the principal, Lu Yunque, and their assistants present.

"Good morning," Yun greeted, instructing Ling Er and the others to wait outside, allowing only Ling Yi to follow her in.

After all, the principal and Lu each had only one assistant. Showing up with seven bodyguards would be somewhat excessive.

"Ah, you're here? Please, have a seat!"

The principal's eyes were gleaming with joy, more so than Yun had ever seen him.

"Hello, Principal. Hello, Mr. Lu."

In front of the principal, Yun felt it was inappropriate to call Lu by his first name, so she temporarily switched to "Mr. Lu."

Noticing this, Lu lifted his gaze toward Yun, faintly curling his lips. "We're all friends, Zijin. No need to act like you don't know me."

Yun: "…Heh…"

Yun could only manage a wry chuckle.

Observing Lu and Yun, the principal wore an understanding expression.

"Yes, we're all on the same side here. No need to stand on ceremony. Zijin, you don't have to address me as your principal. You can just call me Uncle Xu," he said.

Yun remained silent. Being told to address him as "Uncle Xu" so abruptly was a bit disorienting.

"It's alright. If you're not comfortable, that's fine. Anyway, let's discuss the new comprehensive laboratory building, alright?"

That was the main concern. Xu Yunzhen had eagerly awaited signing the agreement. However, he'd hesitated to call Lu repeatedly for fear of appearing pushy, thus only dropping occasional hints.

Mo Bin retrieved the relevant contracts from his briefcase and laid out three copies—one for each party.

Yun skimmed the document and found no issues, then handed it to Ling Yi. She might have missed something, but if Ling Yi also saw no problems, it likely was fine.

Ling Yi carefully read the contract word by word. While both Lu and Xu were surprised to see Yun proceed so cautiously, they refrained from commentary.

Before long, Ling Yi completed his review, returned the contract to Yun, and whispered that it was sound.

"Miss Yun," Mo Bin offered, "if anything seems problematic, just say so. If it's indeed unreasonable, we will amend it."

"No issues. Let's sign," replied Yun, retrieving a pen from her bag.

"That's perfectly fine with me," Xu chimed in.

"Great. Let's finalize this," Lu said, affixing his signature and seal first.

Lu and Xu Yunzhou signed under their respective institutional names, while Yun signed under her personal name only, stamping her fingerprint. This personal stamp looked somewhat out of place beside their official seals, but the signing proceeded without any hiccups.

Yun promptly transferred five million yuan to the designated project account.

"Done. I've just moved five million into the project's account," she informed them, showing her phone to Xu and Lu.

"Zijin, you're quite decisive! I think you're an ideal candidate for the university's recognition—" the principal began.

"Principal, I'm not here to seek honors. Please follow the standard procedure. Other students might need those accolades more than I do."

Yun had fully embraced her laissez-faire attitude, not particularly concerned about earning any distinction. Regardless of her final qualification, she wouldn't need it to secure employment.

After all, she had enough shops and real estate. She'd never have to work under anyone else's roof.

Xu considered how Yun had just pledged one billion, paid in installments of five million each, and concluded that, with such resources, she truly wouldn't need an honors evaluation for job-seeking.

"Alright, I'll see if anything suitable arises, and if so, I'll bring it your way," Xu assured.

There was no real impetus for awarding her beyond the basics. If she requested something feasible, Xu would certainly make it happen.

"I don't need anything else. Actually, I'm a senior now, and all I have left are electives. I wonder if I really need to attend them. I'm sure I can pass the finals without going," Yun ventured.

She genuinely disliked wasting time on optional classes.

"Well, yes, but I should talk to your subject instructors. I'll let you know in two days, alright?"

Xu was somewhat taken aback that Yun wanted to skip classes altogether.

Reflecting that most seniors went out for internships, Xu acknowledged it was tricky to juggle classes while interning. Not everyone was like Yun, wealthy and free from standard concerns.

"No problem. Whatever you decide, I'll go along," Yun said confidently. She believed that once the principal intervened, success was all but guaranteed.

"It seems I'm the only one with no perks out of all this," Lu remarked, tone half-jesting.

"Indeed, of course you get something! Just say the word!" insisted Xu almost reflexively. He was terrified that if either side—Lu or Yun—became displeased, the brand-new lab building might fall through, leaving him despondent.
