Chapter 157: Being Greeted

Chapter 157: Being Greeted

While Uncle Fu went to the kitchen to have someone serve him porridge, Lu Yunque seized the opportunity to ask the old man for information.

"Grandpa, do you know of an old gentleman in the compound who's being attended by someone named Jiang Yi?"

Lu Zhengguo raised his head and glanced at Lu Yunque:

"Why are you asking about that?"

Affairs involving the JUN weren't typically open to casual inquiries.

Not intending to hide anything, Lu Yunque told the truth:

"Here's the situation: a friend of mine runs a milk tea shop, and this Jiang Yi came to buy several cups and took them back to an old gentleman.

Yesterday, he showed up at my friend's shop, asking them to meet that person.

My friend doesn't know the details; she's just a young college girl who doesn't want any trouble, so she came to me.

If it's convenient, I'd like to ask if you could help me find out what this old man wants, so my friend can respond accordingly."

He also hoped to leave a favorable impression on the old gentleman and old lady regarding Yun Zijin.

"A girl?"

After hearing it all, the old lady immediately latched onto the key point.

Lu Yunque paused, then nodded.

Lu Zhengguo pondered for a moment. It was good that his grandson had learned to care about a girl; though troublesome, it wasn't a big deal.

"I recall Old Xu was admitted to the hospital again for a previous ailment. We went to visit yesterday, and I noticed a partially finished milk tea on his bedside table…"

He couldn't be certain if it was indeed the same milk tea that Jiang Yi had delivered.

"The milk tea my friend makes is pretty distinct. I have a photo. Grandma, does this look like what you saw?"

Knowing Jiang Yi had purchased Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea, Lu took out his phone to show Xu Suhua a picture he'd taken of it.

Xu Suhua leaned in to inspect the photo on Lu's phone:

"It looks similar, but I only glanced at it. I assumed it was something a younger relative brought, and he hadn't finished it yet. So I didn't pay much attention.

I can't confirm if it's the exact same milk tea."

"Didn't my friend's shop open a few days back? Lu Yunfeng bought several cups, saying he'd bring them home for the family. Didn't he give them to you?"

Until now, Lu believed Lu Yunfeng had already given some to his grandparents. With work occupying him, Lu never confirmed.

But seeing the two elders' reaction, it was clearly their first time hearing about Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea.

Lu couldn't help but think that Lu Yunfeng was such a scoundrel.

"Oh? So Xiaokuang (Crazy Little) also drank it? This milk tea shop must be pretty special, huh?"

The old lady, having heard her grandson praise a girl's milk tea shop, was unsure if the shop was truly special or if her grandson was just smitten.

"It's not that the shop itself is extraordinary, but they have a signature milk tea that's one-of-a-kind.

I'll bring a couple cups for you two sometime. Once you taste them, you'll understand."

When Lu first tried it, he thought it magical. But associating it with Yun Zijin made it feel perfectly normal.

"Then I'll wait for Skylark's milk tea," the old lady said with a chuckle.

"Grandma, can you help me find out what Old Xu wants from my friend? She's still in college—just a young woman—and it's frightening for her."

His main intent was to clarify things for Yun Zijin.

"Alright! We'll head to Old Xu's ward and ask around today. Keep your phone on!"

The old lady felt that as a grandmother, she must not hinder her grandson's pursuit. She cared little about what her husband thought.

"Thank you, Grandma! I happen to have some Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea she made for you two today."

"Ahem," coughed the old man.

"…And for Grandpa, too!" Lu quickly added.

In front of these elders, Lu was nothing like the cold-faced president he was to outsiders.

Seeing Lu so sincere, the old man's expression relaxed. Though reserved, a sharp observer would detect his contentment.

Just then, Uncle Fu emerged from the kitchen carrying porridge. Lu hurried over to take it from him:

"You're not young, Uncle Fu; why still do all this by yourself? Let someone else handle it."

Uncle Fu had served the Lu family before Lu was even born. Though nominally the butler, Lu treated him like an elder. If Uncle Fu ever wanted to retire, Lu would gladly help.

But the old butler simply smiled:

"It's no trouble. I've got a tray, I won't burn myself."

He was the sort who couldn't idle. Possibly just a natural hard-worker.

"He's old but still competing with young folks for chores. If word gets out, people might think we're abusing the elderly," grumbled the old man.

Uncle Fu just grinned without retort. Everyone knew this retired commander had a sharp tongue but a soft heart.

Lu ignored the conversation, focusing on his porridge. After finishing, he silently departed for work.

The following morning, Yun Zijin woke up and immediately checked her phone. Only after seeing a message from Lu did she relax.

From his explanation, she gathered how things stood. Though no firm conclusion had been reached, the old man's objective was yet unclear. Wary of encountering Jiang Yi, Yun skipped her milk tea shop shift.

After her morning classes, she headed straight to Xinghua Road.

Arriving there, Yun discovered that all the newly rewarded shops were adjacent—and in prime locations. If she opened a Forget-Your-Worries milk tea store here, business would surely be robust. As expected, the system gave her an excellent property with no fuss.

Yun, somewhat tired from checking out two shops already, took a seat on a chair just outside the third one.

"Who are you? What are you doing around here?"

A uniformed guard approached. It made sense—Xinghua Road was near sensitive quarters, so security was top-notch.

"I'm just here to inspect my shops. I've checked two already and took a break to sit here," she explained, pointing to the shop behind her.

"Your shops?" The guard was still suspicious. A random stranger popping up might be trouble.

"Yes, all ten units here are mine. If you need proof, I can fetch the property deeds from my car," she replied, gesturing toward her flashy Shelby Tuatara parked nearby.

He was a young man who recognized high-end cars. At the sight of that unbelievably expensive supercar, his eyes widened. The question "Are young people now so insanely rich?" flashed in his mind. She couldn't be that old, yet was already driving a multimillion-yuan hypercar; meanwhile, he was 28 with no house, no car…

"…So you're scouting your shops? Gonna open one yourself or…?"

Indeed, few dared open shops on Xinghua Road…
