Chapter 30

Once I got back home, I called out for Midnight, usually he would already greet me once he hears the sound of my bike.

"Midnight? Where are you?" I shouted, stepping onto the lawn, but there was no wagging tail or enthusiastic bark to greet me. 'Maybe he's inside playing,' I thought, trying to quell the growing anxiety in my chest.

But as I made my way inside, a pit formed in my stomach when I found no sign of him in the living room nor my room. I bolted into each of my housemate's rooms, desperation fueling my every move.

"Cici? What's wrong?" Nasha called out.

"What are you looking for?" Miya chimed in, her brow furrowed in confusion, only to be met with my frantic presence as I pushed through the doorway.

"Hey, I'm in the middle of changing!" Lesley protested, her voice laced with annoyance but her face etched with concern. But I was too consumed by my search.
