JODY
I had just walked into my room when I heard voices in the hallway. I immediately opened the door and saw Ms. Delphine coming out of the room next to mine and Aurora and Angela coming from opposite directions to meet at the center of the aisle in front of my room.
Ms. Delphine gave me a surprised look when she saw me. She was flustered and sweaty, as if she’d been running.
“Hi there,” I said to Aurora and Angela. “Are you two going to bed?”
“Yes we are. You should, too. You look so tired, Jo. Go get some rest, mm?” Aurora told me with a smile. “Ms. Delphine, I’d love some tea if you can get it to my room, please.”
“Sure thing, dear. Can I get you anything, Ms. Swinson?” She peeked into my room as if she expected to see Ulysses coming out of it.
Please, lady. I wasn’t that much of a ho.
I glanced at Angela, noticing the evil glare she gave me.
“No thank you Ms. Delphine. I’m okay. That walk with Ulysses through the gardens was nothing short of perfect.”
