Chapter 50

Rachel POV

My heart began to pound in my chest like I'd just crossed the finish line of a marathon. A searing pang shot through my chest, and before I knew it, a floodgate of tears burst open, streaming down my face. I felt like I was drowning in a sea of despair, wondering how I'd end up in this catastrophic mess.

The weight of my shame threatened to crush me, and the thought of facing the world alone, with this unknown sender's taunts ringing in my ears, was almost too much to bear. I felt like I was trapped in a never-ending nightmare, with no escape from the puzzle of the mysterious texts.

As if sensing my distress, Mary gently took the phone from my hand and read the message aloud. Her brow furrowed in concern, she asked, "This person is still sending you these texts?" Her voice was laced with puzzlement and worry.
