The Beginning of the End of Kriegbrand

Before I acted I decided to contact Sophia, she needed to know what was going on.

“M, please call Miss Walker and make sure a certain AI fiend is unable to monitor our conversation?”

“Right away, Clarke.”

I was glad M didn’t use the opportunity to tease me for speaking so formally about Sophia. But I supposed my AI partner was professional enough to know that everything had its time and place.

She placed the call, it took four rings before it was finally answered.

“Who is is this and how did you obtain this contact?”

It was a male voice. I couldn’t help the frown that formed on my face. Who was this man and why was he answering her phone?

Rationality hit me the very next moment.

She’s the Secretary of State, Clarke, I told myself. She probably have lots of undersecretaries, personal assistants, and the likes.

I calmed down quickly at that rationale. I realized I’d been silent for almost too long and if I maintained that the person might just decide to hang up.
