The ocean stretched endlessly around me, a vast, undisturbed plane of liquid sapphire. No land in sight, no civilization—just me, the rolling waves, and the silent sky above. The only thing keeping me from plunging straight down into the abyss was the subtle hum of my Power of Motion, keeping me afloat just above the water’s surface.
“Alright, let’s get to work,” I muttered.
“Define ‘work,’” M’s voice chimed through my mentalscape, her usual snark sharpened to perfection. “Because if you mean ‘potentially causing catastrophic anomalies in a planetary ecosystem,’ then sure, let’s ‘work.’”
I rolled my eyes. “I’m testing the limits of my abilities, M. That’s what I do.”
“Right, because you discovering you can summon ‘fictional’ objects into reality totally won’t lead to eldritch nightmares haunting the seven seas.”
Ignoring her, I extended my hand and focused.
I had to get better at this, everything was hinging on that.
