The sound of a door closing shut woke me up. Blinking dirt out of my eyes, while using the back of my left hand to cover my mouth as I yawned from post-exhaustion sleep, I glanced at the watch on my wrist.
Three hours! I have been asleep for three hours.
It felt like only a second. My gaze fell on the table in the middle of the den. There were half a dozen stacks of three feet high files and four laptops.
Blarily, I remembered that we had been going over the data from the interrogations of Lynx, Chasm, and the others. Plus copies of the data I'd provided the government of all the evidence I'd managed to gather against Stiff.
We'd gone over all of that throughout the night and it was 8:17 in the morning now.
Yawning again, I looked around. It was just myself and Kara in the den. I remembered that the others had left after 2:00 AM in the night to catch some sleep, but Kara had cajoled me to stay and help her finish up the review of all the data before daybreak.
