Chapter 76: 101 Promotion Strategy (2)

Seeing their hard work being disrespected, a freshman wanted to knock on the door. Chen Hansheng stopped him, "What do you want to do?"

"I wasn't trying to start trouble, I just want to ask why they're disrespecting other people's hard work," the freshman said, full of youthful passion.

Chen Hansheng laughed and walked over, putting an arm around the freshman's shoulder, "What are we doing?"

"We're promoting and advertising the 101 delivery service."

"And the goal?"

"To improve our skills and earn some extra cash."

"Exactly."

Chen Hansheng looked at the freshman and the whole team, "Making money is never easy. As for improving skills, this is a time to toughen up. Different responses to the same situation will have different outcomes. Arguing is the most meaningless response."

"What should we do then? Just put up with it?" The freshman was still not satisfied.

"Why not?" Chen Hansheng countered, "People have all kinds of emotions. Everyone has bad days. They tossed it away this time, we'll come back and promote again next time."

"If you're afraid of hardship and losing face, then don't bother with part-time jobs," he added, patting the freshman's shoulder before heading to the other male dorms.

The situation in other dorms was similar—some were polite, some cold, and some indifferent. For example, there was a dorm where students were playing cards.

The students were deeply engaged in the game, barely acknowledging Chen Hansheng and his team as they introduced themselves. Chen Hansheng didn't rush; he patiently watched the game, waiting until the round was over to hand out promotional flyers. After the winner was decided, they were more receptive to listening. Chen Hansheng would then leave quietly as they began the next round, not wanting to interrupt the game.

Around 9 PM, after Chen Hansheng and his team had visited all the dorms in that building, they were about to disperse. He called them back, "Let's go to the cafeteria for some milk tea, my treat."

The cafeteria on the first floor was already closed, but the second floor stayed open later, serving only desserts and milk tea. As soon as the plastic curtain was lifted, a greasy smell of leftover food hit the air. Not all the lights were on, and the corner seats were dark, taken by couples enjoying the warmth.

Despite the environment, there were still quite a few people, including students from other departments discussing various matters.

Chen Hansheng thought to himself that it would be hard to convince Shen Youchu to come here, and Xiao Rongyu would likely decline. But, no one would pass up the chance to sit in the cafeteria and relax during their college years.

He said seriously, "You all find a seat. I'll go buy the milk tea."

The new "Taiwan Milk Tea" stall had recently opened in the cafeteria, and milk teas with coconut jelly or pearls had been gaining popularity in mainland China. Xiao Rongyu always carried one around.

Once the milk teas were distributed, the team was grateful, and their impression of Chen Hansheng as a "boss" improved.

"Tonight is our first activity. Let's all share some thoughts," Chen Hansheng said as he pulled out a cigarette. Noticing no one else was smoking, he lit one for himself.

After the group activity, a review was a good way to identify gaps and also strengthen bonds, which would improve Chen Hansheng's standing within the group.

When no one spoke up, he nudged Shang Bing, "Senior, why don't you lead the way?"

Shang Bing readily agreed, putting down his milk tea, "I have one insight: part-time jobs are tough. Even if others ignore you, don't get mad. Speak calmly and explain."

"Next, everyone take a turn," Chen Hansheng prompted.

"I think we need to prepare better. Next time, I'll bring a notebook to record the specific details of each dorm," one student added.

"I believe patience is key. We need to reassure others that we're not scammers," another said.

"I have a suggestion: could we bring some small gifts with the 101 logo for promotion? That might increase acceptance," a third suggested.

After everyone had shared, they all turned to look at Chen Hansheng.

He put out his cigarette and said, "Everyone's suggestions were great. Let's give ourselves a round of applause."

"Clap, clap, clap!" He started clapping, and though the others were shy, they all followed suit.

This simple action was meant to reinforce a belief: "I can do this, I can solve any problem!"

The applause was so loud it disturbed the table next to them. A girl with glasses looked over and said, "Please keep it down, your clapping is disturbing us."

Chen Hansheng, annoyed, glanced at her. A group of students at the next table were glaring at him.

"What department are you from? What are you doing here?" he asked directly.

"We're from the Actuarial Science department, preparing for the college debate competition," the girl replied proudly, her confidence evident.

Chen Hansheng nodded, "You seem dedicated, but it won't matter. The first place will definitely be ours. You might want to go back and play cards instead."

The girl's expression soured. "What department are you from?" she asked sharply.

"I'm from the Accounting department," Chen Hansheng said arrogantly, eyeing her, "We'll beat your department and take you as a trophy, to be one of our Accounting boys' girlfriends."

"Who do you think you are…" A male student stood up to confront him, but the girl stopped him. "We're college students, let's use words, not fists. Remember this moment—we'll defeat the Accounting department in the debate competition!"

"Alright! Defeat the Accounting department!" the others chimed in, unified.

After their rallying cry, they left, and Chen Hansheng turned to his team, "Those fools are gone, let's continue."

"I'll summarize: this door-to-door sales tactic requires empathy. If they have doubts, answer them. If they're in a bad mood, be understanding. If they're too busy, come back next time. Always try to understand the customer."

Everyone nodded, and Chen Hansheng concluded, "I probably won't lead the team anymore. Senior Shang Bing will be the team leader. You guys can come up with a team name from Jin Yong's novels."

This suggestion helped strengthen their group bond, and after a brief discussion, they decided on the name "Huashan Sect."

Shang Bing took the nickname "Linghu Chong."

Before leaving, Shang Bing suddenly stopped Chen Hansheng. "Hansheng, I'm actually from the Accounting department…"

"Such a coincidence," Chen Hansheng smiled.

Shang Bing sighed, "The Insurance Actuarial department's debate team is strong. It seems our Accounting department is going to be in trouble."

"Don't worry, Linghu Brother," Chen Hansheng patted his shoulder. "Our Humanities department will avenge the Accounting department!"

The two laughed and parted ways.
