A Mother's Wrath

Jasmine paused her cries immediately and stared at them in shock, her mother was going to fight all these people just to save them. She hated everything that was happening but she knew that if she didn't leave now, her mother's effort would be for nothing

The armored people pointed their guns at their mother and them, as they were still visible and in the sitting room

"This is the EVA, surrender now!" one of the men spoke, his voice thick and intimidating. Being altered by his mask

"Wait! They look human," Another man said

"Don't be stupid, you know some beastmen might not display animal features until later in their growth." the first man replied

"Besides, why would they be here with the variants? There's no doubt that they are just animals as well." he added, oblivious to the woman standing in front of them, her head was facing the ground

"Alright but the woman is old and seems normal, it's the children who are definitely variants. Eliminate them." Another man said and pointed his gun towards Jayden and Jasmine, who had still been standing there

"No one would harm my children." the woman said coldly and raised her head slowly, her eyes filled with a dangerous kill intent, and her finger nails had become claws, very long, black claws.

"Shit! She's one of them! Kill..." the man's words were cut short as his head wasn't attached to his body anymore, and the woman wasn't in her spot anymore

The remaining men immediately panicked, the women was already at their backs, her face and claws dripping with blood. This sent shivers down their spine, including Jayden and Jasmine, they knew their mother had powers but this wasn't what they expected, she had just killed someone.

But she wasn't done, she moved unto another man with impossible speed and bit through his neck, her teeth... No fangs bitting through the metal and sinking into the man's throat. She grabbed hold of his neck with her teeth and pulled her head back, ripping his throat on the spot.

The scene was too terrifying, the other men immediately began to shoot in horror and fear, but their energy bullets couldn't cause her pain, it couldn't even pierce through her skin. It only created holes and black spots on her clothes

She went to the next and stab his guts with her claws, then dragging them upwards, across his chest, killing him brutally.

She then noticed her children, who were still standing at the end of the room, shocked and terrified of what they were witnessing, she frowned and looked in their direction

"Go!" She said, or rather growled, her usual soft feminine voice was now replaced with a very deep and terrifying howl.

Jayden snapped out of his thoughts, he was completely stunned with everything that was happening. His mother was something else entirely, her eyes were now glowing yellow and she had fangs which were now covered in blood, and her face was now more hairy and less human like

"Was mother truly an oneiri all along?" he thought, but he didn't linger on it for long and grabbed his sister's arm and bolted to the door, he dragged Jasmine, who was oddly quiet and left the house through the back door

One of the men seeing this exclaimed "The children, they're getting away! Stop them!" he yelled

Their mother looked at him sharply and bared her fangs

"No one would harm my children," she said, and immediately stretched her hands towards the back doorway through which Jayden and his sister had escaped. She eyes glowed brighter and ice began to shoot out of her hands, blasting furiously at the door way till it formed a wall and blocked it's entrance.

The men were shocked to the core. She had used ice abilities, one that Jayden and Jasmine already knew she had, but always wondered how. In the end, they along with the other people of the tribe just concluded that she had taken the evolution serum.

"She just used an ability, how is that possible? Beastmen can't use abilities, i must report this." one of the man muttered and quickly dashed out of the house, leaving the remaining men to be massacred by the woman.

The men stood there staring at her with confusion. Was she human? Was she a variant? How did she possess abilities only humans should have? But what happened next confirmed their theories, and it wasn't what they had expected at all

"You think I would let you touch my kids, you're wrong and you're dead." she said softly, before her body began to grow, bigger and taller, her mass increasing and tearing apart her clothes, brown hair appearing all over her body and her claws and fangs growing longer.

The men were completely terrified of what was now standing in front of them, it was a beast but was humanoid. It wasn't a human, neither was it a beastman variant, this was a real beast.

A beast that could only be found in horror stories and folklores, one that would kill them all.

Jayden and Jasmine were now running through the thick forest, dodging the trees effortlessly through the night. The full moon was out and shining brightly on the island, illuminating the way for them. Not that they needed it anyway, they were familiarized with the forest of the island already

They jumped over fallen trees and leapt over pits, moving quickly with pain and passion. Jayden held unto Jasmine who was just doing whatever Jayden did, she had been traumatized with everything she had witnessed that night

Jayden was also lost in thought, everything had happened so fast, it all felt like a dream.

"I thought mum's powers were ice control, how did she move so fast? And why did she have claws and fangs?" he pondered as they kept running. They had now almost reach the back end of the island where they would finally escape

After running a few more meters, they arrived at an open shore. It was a sandy terrain unlike the forest they had emerged from. They began to walk across it, heading for the large sea in front of them

But then they spotted a slightly large submarine floating on the sea, along with the other children as well. They were first relieved, but that relief changed to complete horror in an instant

They had found the other kids, but they were all dead, massacred like livestock, their dead bodies spread across the shore.

"No... Why?" Jayden gasped as he fell to his knees, he was now disoriented. How much of it could he hold back, everyone they were supposed to escape with were now dead.

Jasmine remained on her feet, her eyes red from all the crying. There was no more tears left in her, she just stared at the bodies in horror.

"No! Darien! Kito!" Jayden voiced out with sorrow as he recognized two of his friends, their bodies had several holes in them, they were definitely dead.

"It's such a shame that they had to die." A voice suddenly said from behind them

Jayden immediately stood up and turned to face the person who had spoken. It was a tail and burly man with black beards that had a few white strands. He wasn't wearing armor like the rest of the men standing behind him. Just a black short-sleeved T-shirt with a military green trouser and black boots.

"How did we not see them? Or were they waiting for us? What are they going to do to us? Jayden thought, staring at the man with his cold eyes

"Hmm, you truly do look like humans, let's test that shall we," the man said with a smile

Just few minutes ago, before the twins had arrived at the open shore. A group of men had just finished eliminating all the children that were headed for the submarine. The only man in the shirt and army green pants stood in the middle of the chaos.

"Alright, leave no one alive. I should contact the others," he declared before tapping the screen of a watch on his wrist.

"Alpha team, come in." he spoke into the watch. Everything was silent for a few seconds before a voice was heard from it.

"This is alpha team reporting, captain," a young female voice replied

"Good, what's your status?" the captain asked

"All targets on the west coast have been eliminated. Kill confirmed," she stated

"Great job, check for any thing strange or abnorma. Also what going on in the inner settlement? Delta team isn't replying their comms, send someone there immediately," he said

"Okay sir, will do that right away." the female said before ending the transmission

"This is getting annoying, it's supposed to just be a simple wipeout and this stupid cadets can't..."

"Captain..."

The captain was interrupted by another transmission, this time coming from the small walkie talkie strapped to his waist. He frowned and picked it up, then spoke through it.

"Report!" he voiced out with annoyance

"Sir, this is the leader of delta team, we have some complications." a man's voice replied through the device

The captain's frown deepened "What do you mean by that?" Explain." he said

"We encountered an oneiri in her house, but she wasn't like anything we've seen before. She looked human at first but then she transformed, suddenly developing claws and fangs, and she was even stronger than a normal variant, our blasters aren't effective on her. Three of our men are down, i had to quickly leave the area and make a report," the man stated, his voice trembling with the horrors he had witnessed

The captain's frown was replaced with frustration "Hmm, that might be a problem, well drop those useless guns and use your damn abilities! Do we have to teach you guys everything." he voiced out

"Uhm sir, she... posses abilities as well," the man replied

The captain was now curious, he had never heard anything like that before, it was a definitely something worth looking into.

"Are you sure about this?" he asked

"Positive sir, she had ice abilities... oh seemed to be incredibly fast," the man said

The captain raised his eyebrow "Ice huh? could it be... No it couldn't, but I must confirm," he thought

"Alright I'm on my way, Alpha team should be sending backup as well. keep her alive no matter what, there's a possibility that she's not a complete beastman. Maybe just a human living with them, we must find out the proper way. Plus I think I know this person," he ordered

"Oh... okay sir, but there's something else,"

"Hm, what is it." the captain asked

"She had offsprings as well," the man stated

The captain was now very curious "I see, tell me more."
