Inside a small house that looked like it was made of stones, wood and mosses on the outside. A woman could be seen with two children in the cozy sitting room, which was unusually bigger... Infact the entire house was bigger on the inside than what it looked like on the outside. This was due to advanced spatial technology.

They lived on a remote island which was one of the oneiri tribe sanctuary, the housing of the settlement all looked prehistoric and cave-like on the outside. But was more larger and even technically advanced on the inside, they were beastmen didn't mean they couldn't use advanced technology.

The women and her children; a boy and a girl with silver hair, all sat on a sofa and were holding glowing joysticks, which seemed to control a program from the large holographic screen in front of them. They were playing video games together.

"You're finished, Jasmine!" The boy voiced out, his eye concentrated on the screen

"Whaaa! Mum, Jayden is using vulgar words." Jasmine teared up, looking at her mother with her watery, large eyes

Her mother couldn't resist her cuteness "Jayden, be nice." she stated

Jayden sighed "It's just a stupid game, she's just being sentimental." he retorted, still focused on the screen

"Ahh! You're sentimental!" Jasmine yelled, completely distracted from the game and staring daggers into Jayden

Jayden just ignored her, he was completely immerses in the game already

"Mum! Now Jayden's ignoring me," Jasmine cried once again

This time it was her mother that sighed "Jayden, please just let your sister be," She said with an apologetic look

Jayden attention was now gotten, he turned to look at his mother

"What! But I didn't even do anything," he said in defense

His mother smiled "I know, but she's your sister. Try and tolerate her okay, act more mature,"

Jayden mouth was wide open "What are you talking about, we're twins!" he voiced out "Why do I get to be the mature one? She's also ten."

"I know but... just cope with her okay. And always protect her," his mother replied

"Fine! I will," he muttered

His mother was about to say something when Jasmine spoke up

"Good, you better train harder so I won't get into trouble, hehe. You're my bonded knight and you must always protect me." she stated with a look of victory

Jayden gritted his teeth "This little brat!" he cursed inwardly. While he trained and practiced martial arts with his mother almost every day, Jasmine would sit in the house and watch animated shows all day.

Her life was simply really, she lived like a princess.

He just stared at his sister with a frown, she also glaring at him. It was now a staring contest and they were both locked into it, completely oblivious to the screen. The battle was getting intense when,

"Ha! I win." their mother said with a smile

They both looked at the holographic screen in shock and back their mother, who was dancing happily.

"Mum, that's cheating. We were distracted," Jayden complained

"Yeah, not cool mummy," Jasmine added

Their mother smiled "Heh, what's this? You're both ganging up against me. Even you Jasmine?" she stated, acting like she was shocked

"Hmph, mummy shouldn't have bullied us." Jasmine said, crossing her hands and turning her head away from her mother

She chuckled and walked up to Jasmine, she picked her up effortlessly, and carried her like a baby

"Ahhh! Put me down mummy!" Jasmine cried out, as she struggled to break free from her mother's grasp

"No, it's time for bed, and i don't have the energy to chase you around the house today," her mother replied

"Hehe, it's more fun that way." Jasmine said with a mischievous smile

"What a cute little devil." her mother thought

"Why can't you be more like your brother? Mature and composed." she voiced out, already heading towards the room with Jasmine in her hands

Jasmine who had already given up just let her mother carry her

"Jayden is no fun. I'm all fun and i never want to be mature." she declared

"I heard that!" Jayden yelled back, already immersed in another game. Apart from reading and training, he loved to play video games

He had visited the arcade with his mother once, during the times she would take them off the island to spend some quality time in the cities, and he had been addicted to games since then.

His mother returned to the sitting room and stared at him, he didn't notice her arrival and just kept tapping the joystick, his tongue sticking out of his mouth

"Fufu... you really should just enter the game," she voiced out with a chuckle

Jayden jerked up in shock and turned back to look at his mother

"When did you return? I thought you might want to read Jasmine a story." he flashed his teeth

"No i want to read it to you as well, now turn it off and get to bed," his mother commanded

"Just one more, pleasssse!" he pleaded

His mother sighed "Alright fine, just one. I'll be right back, Jasmine hid her necklace again, she is too stubborn. You still have yours on right?" she asked

Jayden nodded with a smile "Sure! I never take it off." he said, showing his mother the silver necklace that was covered by his shirt

"Good boy, always seek calmness from it and don't forget what I told you to always say when you get angry," she stated

"Yes, yes. Phoebus lunar or something," Jayden said dismissively, he wanted to get back to his game

His mother chuckled "It's Tenebris Luna. It means the dark waning moon, repeating the mantra wanes the anger in you and calms you down." she explained

"Yeah, yeah i know." Jayden replied, his gaze focused on the game. He knew the mantra but just never spoke it because he didn't believe that speaking some stupid words could take away someone's rage.

His mother just smiled and went out of the house.

Jayden had now been playing for 10 minutes and he was almost about to win. When suddenly the power went out, not just in his house but in the entire island

"Damn it! Whyyyyy!" he voiced out with annoyance

"How is the power even out? Is that even possible?" Jayden said, he stood up from the sofa and clapped twice. But nothing happened

"Huh? Even the backup power is out." he muttered. He walked over to a small lamp, it was flawless for him as ever since he was a child, navigating his way in the dark was a norms.

He turned it on and it illuminated the entire living room, very brightly it felt like it was actually electrical power

"Much better." He said, before walking back to the sofa. But before he could sit down, Jasmine suddenly appeared in the sitting room

"What's going on? Where's mummy?" she asked, her voice slow and soft

Jayden shrugged his shoulder "I don't know either, but mother should be clo...."

He was suddenly interrupted by a large explosion that reverberated through the entire island

Jayden and Jasmine were immediately spooked, they stared at each other in panic. They were only 10 years afterall, loud sudden explosions could still terrify them

They both ran to a nearby window and looked through it, and they were completely shocked by what they saw on the outside

They entire settlement was full of light, which illuminated the darkness. But the light source wasn't gotten from a power source, it was emanating from the fire that had spread to most of the houses.

They were scared and panicking, this was their home, the place they grew up for ten years, and it was on fire.

But that wasn't all, some figures seem to be dropping out of the sky, they wore full black armored suits with the symbol 'EVA' written on the suits chest.

They dropped unto the ground effortlessly and were shooting at everyone and everything

This only increased the twins fear, they were now terrified. They couldn't even speak, it was all too shocking. One moment they were playing games and living happily, and they next they were being attacked and killed like animals

They slowly moved away from the window, Jayden was still calm and collected but Jasmine was breathing heavily, she had just witnessed something straight out of an horror film. It was the first time she had seen violent death happened right in front of her

"Ah... ah... they... ah..." she stammered, her eyes filled with tears

"Hey! It's going to be okay, I'll protect you and... Wait! Where's mum?" Jayden said, panic visible in his eyes

Suddenly the door opened and someone walked in, Jayden heart immediately jumped, he was terrified to death while Jasmine was too shocked to feel anything anymore

"Jayden! Jasmine!" The person yelled, and then they could see the figure clearly, it was the only person they wanted to see at the moment

"Mum!" they shouted and ran towards her, she knelt down and hugged both of them.

"Mum, what's happening? Why are those people attacking us?" Jasmine asked in an innocent voice, tears streamed down her face

Their mother felt her heart get struck, seeing her daughter like this pained her deeply. She didn't want her children to experience the true cruelty of the world. It was why they lived on the island in the first instance, but now it was all ruined

"It's the bad people, they have found the island and are here to kill everyone." she muttered, using her hands to wipe off Jasmine's tears. She was about to continue speaking when Jayden cut in

"But how? I thought this island was invisible and that the dome was also a shield, how did they find us and infiltrate the place?" He voiced out with a serious expression, he was terrified inwardly but he was being strong on the outside. Not crying or panicking, he was being strong.

His mother looked at him and smiled slightly "My brave boy, even with all that's happening, you still remain strong, and i know it's for your sister." she said stroking his face gently

"They were able to pinpoint our location, and somehow at the same time one of the stones creating the dome barrier was destroyed, revealing the island and making it vulnerable," she continued

"It was no doubt an inside job, someone betrayed us to the EVA and now... Now they are going to destroy everything on this island," she stated, clenching her fist

Jayden had never seen his mother this angry before, all the motherly aura she had was now replaced with bloodlust. She wore the silver necklace in her hands on Jasmine's neck.

"Alright, this way, we'll always be together no matter what happens. I love you." she said

"What! Mum why are you saying that, what's going to happen?" Jayden said with a look of horror, he could guess what was going to happen but hoped it wasn't the case

His mother smiled "They are too powerful to defeat, you have to go to the back end of the island. There should be a small submarine there, we created that as an escape plan just in case we were ever discovered. I never thought it'd ever be used but... The other children should be on their way there as well." she gritted her teeth, her blood was boiling with rage but she was still trying to be composed in front of her children.

"I have to stay here and hold them off, buy you and the remaining children some time. You will have to go without me."

Jayden eyes widened as he heard those words, they was the exact words he didn't wanted to hear

"Mum no! You can't do that! We can't go without you!" Jasmine cried loudly and stared into her mother's eyes

Jayden just stood there, he was more angry than sad. He knew his mother wouldn't change her mind, if she decided to do something, there was going back. Even now in all the destruction she was willing to fight, Jayden looked at her with admiration and sorrow

"Jayden take your sister and go, we've wasted enough time, please go. Take good care of her." she said with a pleading look, tears already forming in her eyes

"Okay mum, i will." he said, he didn't even bother argue with her. There was no point

But Jasmine didn't agree to any of it, she threw a tantrum

"Mum, you can't do this!" she cried even louder "Please mum don't do this," she pleaded which made her mother begin to cry as well, the tears streamed out of her eyes as she brought both of them into her embrace, hugging them tightly

"I'm sorry baby, but you have to... Gasp* Someone's coming." she said releasing them from her embrace and standing up

"You have to leave now," she said sternly

Jayden nodded "Come on Jasmine. Let's go," he said and grabbed his sister, and began to drag her towards the second door which was at the back, just distance opposite to the front door

"No! No! Let me go! Jayden you can't let her do this! She'll die too..." she cried so heavily stretching her hands towards her mother, who was now standing with a sorrowful but determined look. She would protect her children at all cost.

She struggled to break free from Jayden's grasp as she screamed and cried. But this heart touching moment was quickly cut short as several people burst into the house from the front door. They stood intimidating in their black armor and the large guns they held which pulsed with energy.
