Jayden didn't really understand what that meant, but he knew it was definitely his mother they were talking about. He knew that with the way the man over the comm had spoken, it meant something bad. And since the man was actually speaking at all, it also meant that his mother didn't rip out his throat, which could mean only one thing.
"Mum? What do you do to mum!" he yelled, already imagining the worst.
The captain just sighed "I'm on my way, don't do anything else," he said before ending the transmission. Then he faced Jayden and sighed again.
"Look kid, I'm sorry but your mum... she appears to have suffered a fatal wound, but she's still alive... for now."
Jayden gasped, part of his mind had expected it to happen but part of him still hoped that it wouldn't, that he would still see his mother again.
"Mum... What does he mean by for now?" he pondered in his mind.
"I'm going with you," he stared into the captain's eye with ferocity. There was no way anyone would see his current expression and not flinch, he looked like he could rip someone apart with his stare alone.
The captain nodded and signaled to the rest of his men, and they all began to head into the forest, back to the settlement.

"Mother, dead!"
"Sister, probably dead!"
"And now, I'm dead too!"
Jayden whispered as he floated in a dark, endless abyss.
"Man, and just when I thought that my life was just beginning, when I thought I was getting closer to my goal," he sighed and looked around the endless space that was filled with nothing but darkness.
"I took so long, i... "
"Jayden!"
He was suddenly interrupted by a loud voice yelling his name
"Huh? Who's there?" Jayden voiced out, twisting his neck in every direction, trying to find out who said his name.
"Jayden!" the voice yelled again
It was so loud that it was starting to affect him, he quickly placed his hands above his ears and covered them, and kept glancing around the abyss, looking for the source of the voice. But he was soon disappointed as there was nothing else in the place except him.
"Am i hearing things?" he thought
"Who's there? Show yourself!" he yelled, but nothing happened. Instead he heard the voice again, even more louder than before.
"Jayden!"
"Arghhh! Leave me alone!" he screamed, trying to block out the voice but it didn't work as he could still hear the voice very clearly, and it only became worse.
"Jayden! Jayden! Jayden! Jay... " The voice kept yelling his name, each one louder than the last and it didn't stop.
Jayden gritted his teeth as the voice was pounding his eardrums, it felt like his ears were going to burst at any second. But the voice kept ringing in his ear and after a while, he couldn't take it anymore.
"Whaaat!" he screamed.
The noise stopped and everything returned to normal... or to be more precise, he woke up.
Jayden stared around his environment, he was lying on a bed in a small hospital ward, there were certain machinery around, and the place reeked of antiseptic.
"Huh? Where I'm i?" he asked, glancing around the place as his memories flooded back in.
Jayden gasped "I got struck by lightning! But... i died, didn't i?" he muttered, remembering everything that occurred just before he passed out.
"So how am i here?" Jayden asked, but suddenly a bright silver screen appeared in his line of sight.
[System modification complete]
[Emergency healing successful]
[Integration complete]
"Huh?" Wasn't this the same thing that appeared to me before I... died," he thought as memories of the mysterious screen resurfaced.

Jayden was dumbfounded yet again, he was totally confused
"What is this thing mean, what Beastlord does it keep talking about?" he muttered, as he turned his face away from the screen. But it didn't change anything, as the interface remained in his line of sight.
"I must still be seeing things, afterall I just came back from the dead. How is that even possible?" Jayden pondered, feeling his toned body to make sure he was really there.
"Or maybe a dream?" he stated and tried to touch the screen, but his hands went through it like it was not even there, but it was.
"Arghh! Stupid screen, get out of my face!" Jayden yelled, getting frustrated and filled with anger.
[What do you think you're doing?]
A voice suddenly snapped him out of his little rage, he paused and glanced around the room, but there was no one present but him.
"Who are you? Reveal yourself," Jayden muttered, he recognized the voice. It was the same soft. teenage feminine voice that was yelling his name in the abyss.
[Unfortunately I can't do that] the voice replied
Jayden frowned, he could already tell that only he could hear the voice, it was in his head.
"Who are you? And why can I hear you?" he asked sharply
[Oh, that's my bad. To wake you up i had to yell your name] The voice replied
"That wasn't what I asked. Explain yourself now!" Jayden retorted coldly
[Sigh* you really are not a chill one, are you?]
[Alright Host, you now wield the power of the Beastlord title and every other abilities and skills your sire had]
"Sire? Do you mean my dad?" Jayden asked with curiosity
[No, I have no idea what your talking about. You just inherited the powers of someone very powerful, which makes them your sire. But you can call me luna, your personal assistant to help guide you through your journey]
"Oh i see, so what exactly is the power?" Jayden asked
[Well to know more about your new powers, just say the words 'system interface'] Luna replied
Jayden glanced around the room and looked towards the door, it didn't look like anyone was coming in anytime soon.
"System interface," he called out
And just immediately, the screen displayed some other set of information, forming a small list.
"Huh, this is like some game," Jayden muttered, he could already recognize the way the system interface looked like, he wasn't a stranger to role playing games.
[That's right, this would help you receive your powers faster. As you level up you will get different rewards that help you get stronger] Luna's voice ringed in his head
"Yeah, i got that part already," he said calmly "Status." Jayden selected, he already had an idea how the system worked
Then the screen disappeared and pooped up immediately with more information, much longer than the last one.

Jayden was stunned with the information that the system displayed, there were too many shocking and mysterious things.
First thing he noticed was the fact that the system didn't recognize his race, which was really strange. Then the system said something about modification which was even more confusing, but Jayden could really feel an increase in strength. And finally, the skills and abilities were more mysterious as it display much information on it, heck one wasn't even recognized by the system.
"What's going on? Is the system broken or something?" he thought. He wanted to say something but Luna quickly interrupted.
[I know this must be confusing for you.... To be honest it's confusing to me as well. But I can try to explain what I know] She said
"Alright, explain," Jayden muttered and crossed his arms.
Luna took a deep breath and cleared her throat. [It appears the system was modified at the point of contact with your being, something in your body was triggered at the same time which must have lead to an error] She began
[But all i can for now is, please bear with the system. Your stats have been increased and you don't even need energy points to heal, plus it looks like you got a new ability, one that the system doesn't know about] Luna explained.
Jayden listened to her carefully and remained silent for a while, he was processing everything she had said. It was still confusing but he managed to understand some of it.
"Okay, so it's like a glitch, and it still managed to favor me, that's cool I guess. But you said the system made contact with me, how? And what do you mean by it found something in me, i don't have any kind of ability before," he stated
[Oh the system was always with you but you needed to die before it could be integrated and activated. And as for what was inside you, i have no clue, but the system clearly states that you had a non-human gene. That could be why it hasn't recognized your race as well] Luna replied
Jayden was dumbfounded, he had actually died. And worse of all he wasn't even human. He wanted to say something but Luna spoke first.
[But it could just be a glitch, I would just advise you don't think to much about it and try to level up and reach the full potential of the system abilities] She added.
Jayden didn't respond, he was lost in thought already. His mind traveled back to the past, remembering the place he had grew up in. The features of those people... The features of his mother and sister.
"Am i an oneiri?" he pondered. "That could be the only explanation, mum and Jasmine were oneiri and mum had abilities so this all makes sense!" he exclaimed in his mind
"But why... Why did it take so long... It doesn't even matter anymore, now that I have this system, I will use it to achieve my goals!" Jayden said with determination before his eyes landed on his chest. He immediately frowned as the silver necklace that would normally be sitting there was now gone.
Jayden was filled with rage as he clenched his fist, he never joked with that necklace... Infact he never took it off. But suddenly the system screen appeared with the strangest info he had received since he woke up.

"Huh? Why do I need to know my heart rate, and... Where the fuck is my necklace?"
