Warm Welcome

Jayden easily got angry, it had even become a... Trait, one that even a therapy of five years couldn't cure. This was why he decided to become indifferent, at least if he didn't show or feel any emotions, there was no way he could get angry.

This had worked and Jayden had gotten used to being uncaring and cold, but that anger was still in him, it was still a part of him that he can't control.

"I need that necklace," he said and stood up from the bed.

[110 Bpm]

The system notified him again, this time Jayden was already breathing heavily, his fingernails... Which were now longer and sharper dug into his palms, causing blood to drip from the wound. But Jayden was too angry to feel the pain, he wasn't even paying attention to his transformed 'Fingers'

[Host is bleeding]

[-1 Hp]

The system appeared with another message but Jayden didn't notice it, he was still clenching his fist and gritting his teeth.

And his breath kept increasing and the anger was only getting worse, he wanted to break something, but he quickly remembered something and began to mutter some words.

"Tenebris Luna... Tenebris luna... Ahh! It's not working," he yelled with frustration. This time his anger seemed different, he couldn't calm himself down and the rage only kept increasing.

"I've never been this angry before, i can't even control how I'm getting angry. What's going on?" Jayden thought. And after a while he couldn't hold it in anymore, he was going to lash out. But before he could do anything, the system popped up with a message and he suddenly calmed down.

[120 Bpm]

[Host has now reached the limit of anger level his body can handle, any further increase would lead to seizure and later death]

[Certain measures would now be taken to prevent any casualties. Searching...]

[Appropriate skill found: Waning rage]

[Waning rage activated]

[Heart Rate: 45 Bpm]

Jayden stared at the notifications with shock, he had suddenly calmed down with not even the slightest rage present. He raised his hands and stared at his bloodied palms which seemed to have healed up completely, the fingernails also looking normal again.

"How... What did it do?" he muttered with confusion.

[Wow! You almost lost it back there, thankfully that skill decreased your heart rate and cleared your rage. You got angry really fast] Luna replied him

"That... I don't know why, but maybe its..." Jayden paused, but then his eyes widened and he gasped. "Beastmen! But that still doesn't make sense. That man said they... We had a primal rage instinct but that's not true. I've lived with beastmen for years and they never showed any kind of senseless rage," he pondered

"Or maybe I'm not a beastman... He did say mum and Jasmine were some kind of hybrid. But it still doesn't make any sense, i have to find out more," Jayden muttered to himself, he had so many questions he wanted to ask both the system and himself, including why his heart rate mustn't exceed a certain range.

But before he could say anything, the door to the room suddenly opened and a nurse walked in. She paused in her tracks when she saw Jayden on his feet, with a bloody fist and a few drops of blood on the floor.

As a normal human being, this scene would be very misleading and scary, but the nurse didn't flinch. She looked into Jayden's eye and he stared back at her, both of them remaining silent. She then shifted her gaze to the surrounding, scanning the entire room as if searching for something, and after a while she sighed in relief and left.

Jayden just stood there confused, unfazed but confused. The nurse didn't say anything or do anything, she just left.

[Haha, you're in trouble] Luna teased with a chuckle.

"No, you buffoon, she's probably gone to call the doctor. Guess seeing a patient with a bloody fist is kind of a normal thing around here," Jayden retorted and sat on the bed, waiting for what would come next.

Then the door opened again but he was only half right, the nurse had indeed gone to call someone, but it wasn't the doctor.

"Thank goodness! You're alright kid," Jacob exclaimed, running over to Jayden with joy and excitement.

He wanted to hug Jayden but seeing his cold face, he threw the idea into the trash and sat beside him.

"We were so worried Jayden, I'm so glad you're finally awake," Jacob stated with a look of sadness.

"We?" Jayden thought. But suddenly another person entered the room, her large breasts bouncing as she ran towards Jayden and Jacob, it was Harleen.

"It's true! You're really awake! Oh my sweet boy, we thought we'd never see you again!" she voiced out with concern and pain as she hugged Jayden. She didn't care about the expression he was carrying, it wasn't something she was afraid of.

"Tha...nk you," Jayden managed to mutter through the two mountains his face was buried in. Jacob just had a smug smile on his face as he stared at lucky Jayden.

"Everyone was so worried, we really thought you were going to die. It was so scary, even the girls were both worried," Harleen said, rubbing her hands across Jayden's hair.

Jayden didn't mind any of these, he welcomed the 'Care' she was giving him and he deeply appreciated the concern and affection he received from them. But he was surprised the girls even cared, he could still believe Tasha being worried, but Jessica, no way. She hated him.

After what seemed like an eternity for Jayden, Harleen released him for her 'Care' and they talked to him for a while. Then the doctor came and ran a few tests on Jayden before checking him out and Jacob drove everyone home.

"We're home!" Harleen loudly stated as they entered the house. But she was met with one of the girls, standing just in front of the door, anticipating their return as Jacob already called to deliver the news.

"Oh, Tasha you're here, look... " Harleen paused in her statement as she saw the person standing in front of her wasn't Tasha. It was rather Jessica. This surprised not only Harleen but also Jacob and Jayden, she was the last person they would expect to see.

But Jessica didn't mind the looks they gave her, she walked up to Jayden and hugged him which again shocked everybody including Jayden, but his facial expression didn't change.

"I'm glad you didn't die, that would break her. Besides it's good to see you again," she whispered with a smile and released the embrace.

"Where's Tasha?" Jacob asked, still surprised that Jessica was being nice to Jayden.

"Um... Well she had some school stuff to take care of," Jessica replied with a wry smile and quickly left the place, heading back to her room like nothing happened.

"Alright, Tasha must be very busy, afterall the tournaments are coming up," Harleen said. It was very unusual that Tasha wasn't there to welcome Jayden.

"You should head to your room and rest for a while. We have very important things to discuss, you and i," Jacob patted Jayden's shoulder.

"That would be good, I'll prepare dinner. Jessica! Come and assist your mother would you!" Harleen voiced out before heading to the kitchen.

Jayden nodded and walked to his room, his usual indifference had returned. He entered the large room and fell on the bed, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.

"Luna, you there?" he muttered and almost immediately got a response from the voice living in his head.

[I'm always available. What's up] Luna replied

"Is it true what you told me... About the necklace?" Jayden asked in a soft tone. On the way home, Luna had explained a few things to him, including where his necklace was.

Luna sighed pitifully. [I'm afraid so, the necklace is the system and when you got hit by that lightning, it immediately turned into pure energy and fused with you, quickly healing you before... you could die] She explained.

"So if i wasn't wearing it that time, I'd probably be dead already," he sighed. According to Jacob, it had been 3 weeks since the lightning struck him. He had been unconscious ever since.

"Even now, your teaching was what saved my life mother. I swear with this new power that I've received, I will avenge you!" Jayden said, determination etched in his voice.

"But I still have a lot of questions, like how is the necklace a system and once again, why can't I go pass 120 beats per minute?" he loudly stated in his mind, and Luna could hear him. He had discovered a few thing about the system like how he could communicate with Luna without speaking and that only he could see the system's screen.

[To be honest, I don't know how the system is in the necklace or... how it was the system, i was woken up immediately the system activated. As for your Bpm, I think if you exceed that limit, something will happen to you and the system knows this so it's trying to curb it] Luna replied

[But if my algorithm is correct, if you increase your energy points, it should allow you to exceed that limit]

Jayden had a look of understanding, it's not like he wanted to just increase his heart rate, but he needed to know why he mustn't pass that range. He couldn't tell how angry he would be and it seemed like he couldn't control it but the worse part was that the skill the system had used to calm him down won't be happening again, he was on his own.

"So that would mean i have to level up right? That would increase my stats including the energy points," he muttered

[Exactly, you will need to get the required Exp and level up by completing quests, defeating opponents or killing beasts] Luna explained

"Alright open the quest tab," Jayden ordered, still maintaining the conversation in his mind. On the outside he just looked like he was laying on the bed and staring at the ceiling without moving his lips.
