Jayden wasn't fazed by the quests, he just closed the interface and closed his eyes seemingly trying to process everything. And after a long processing and thinking he spoke.
"You know, come to think of it. Why do I have a charm stat? I don't even know what it means," Jayden asked. He could already understand why the system displayed his heart rate but he didn't understand the value of the charm stat. But that wasn't the only thing he didn't understand.
[Well... Actually it wasn't supposed to be there, it suddenly appeared after the modification, same with the heart rate meter, but i guess it's related to how you attract... well people or beasts] Luna responded
Jayden raised an eyebrow, he didn't really understand what she meant by attract but he was able to process what she said first
"Of course, the thing in my body... I had an idea but I'm not so sure anymore. But even though I still have a lot of question regarding the system," he voiced out
[All your questions would be answered, even i have questions of my own. But if it's about the system then I have every memory complete. I'll suggest you begin to get stronger with it, and as you advance more questions will pop up and more will be answered] Luna replied in an assuring tone
"You see, that's the thing, I know that the system is to help me get stronger and become more powerful but how exactly? You said something like beastlord, what does that mean?" Jayden asked with an intrigued expression.
[Alright I will explain, the system was created for a sole purpose; to make the host a lord over all beasts. To become a powerful entity through the help of beast powers. Whether by taking it or even controlling them, the aim is to rule them all]
"So it's some kind of omnitrix that would help me become the king of beasts?" Jayden asked with his eyebrows raised
[I don't know what an omnitrix is, but yes, you will be able to control beast, take their powers and the most exciting of all, become one] Luna replied with excitement
Jayden had a conflicted look on his face. "Wait, did you just say, become one?" he asked
[Yes, yes I did. After acquiring a beast energy, you will obtain the ability and be able to transform yourself to take it's form] she replied
Jayden grew a smile on his face, this was definitely the omnitrix, but better. "The irony huh? The kids at school used to call me beast boy, now it seems they were right afterall," he chuckled.
"Okay, so who created you? And how did you end up in my necklace?" Jayden asked again. He wanted to milk answers out of Luna and he seemed to be doing pretty well, not until Luna replied with a statement she hadn't spoken since they met.
[That is classified]
Jayden was surprised, she had been telling him everything before, why stop now
"But you said you will tell me all that I need to know," he retorted
[Precisely, and all i told you earlier is what you need to know, to get more complex answers like that you will have to get strong enough to be worthy of know them] Luna retorted back.
Jayden frowned, it's not like he cared about how the system came to be, he only cared about the benefits of having it. But it was in his necklace, one given to him when he was a child, and this resulted in a lot of questions.
"And now that I think of it... Jasmine had the same kind of necklace, does that mean she has a system? Wait! How did the necklaces end up with mother, was she the one who created them?" he pondered in his mind. There was just to many questions it was linked to, and he hadn't even solved the mystery of being an oneiri yet.
[Little advice from a thousand year old Ai, just forget about it. They are all in the past, don't waste time trying to figure it out, just move forward and get stronger with what you've got. Don't overthink things] Luna chimed in. She could hear his thoughts and it was giving her an headache.
Jayden sighed, he knew she was right. But what if somehow, everything is connected, he needed to know.
"Yeah, you're right. I should focus on getting stronger, i have a lot of quests to complete and an ability to figure out... Wait! Did you just say you're a thousand years old?" he exclaimed with shock.
[Don't overthink it] Luna replied and said nothing more.
"I think my artificial intelligence is malfunctioning," he muttered with a smile.
Luna was about to retort, when Jayden heard a knock on the door.
"Jayden, are you there?" A voice said from behind it.
"Come in," Jayden voiced out softly, but the seemed to have heard it and they entered. It was Jacob
"Hey kid, I just thought i discuss this with you before dinner. It's kind of urgent," He said, taking a seat on the chair facing Jayden.
"Hm?" Jayden hummed with curiosity, raising his eyebrow slightly.
"It's about the incident, the doctors discovered something and i think you should be aware," Jacob began with a serious expression.
******
Jayden followed closely behind the captain, his heart pounding with anxiety as they entered the area filled with houses that were now burnt and demolished, dead beastmen lying around the place.
They navigated through the ruins of the settlement and Jayden's anxiety grew with each step. He couldn't shake off the feeling of dread that had settled in his stomach. The captain's words kept echoing in his mind.
Jayden's eyes scanned the area, taking in the destruction and chaos that surrounded them. The once-thriving settlement was now a scene of utter devastation. The smell of smoke and char hung heavy in the air, making his stomach churn with nausea.
As they turned a corner, towards where his house was, he was met with a sight that made his blood run cold. A swarm of agents, clad in black, surrounded his house. They seemed to have finished their mission, as they stood idly by, their faces expressionless.
Jayden's eyes scanned the area, his heart racing with fear. That was when he saw her - his mother, lying on the ground, a pool of blood spreading from the side of her gut.
His heart skipped a beat as he rushed towards the her, his legs pumping with a mix of fear and adrenaline.
"Mum!" he cried out, dropping to his knees beside her.
His mother's eyes flickered open, and she gazed up at Jayden with a weak smile. "Hey, darling," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Jayden's eyes welled up with tears as he took in the sight of his mother's battered and bruised body. He felt a wave of anger wash over him, and he clenched his fists, determined to exact his revenge on those that were responsible, but right now he was only filled with sorrow.
"Mum, are you going to be okay?" he asked with tears already streaming down his face. He was knowledgeable enough to know that with the kind of blood she had lost, it would be a miracle if she lived. He only asked out of hope.
She smiled and placed her hand on his face, caressing it lovingly. "Oh my sweet child, you grown so much... Take care of your sister for me, okay,"
Hearing those words made Jayden tear up even more, his worst fear had been confirmed. And she didn't seem to be healing.
"Mum they took Jasmine, i failed... I couldn't protect her," he cried out
His mother sighed and patted his head. "There, there. Don't worry, your sister will be okay, i guess fate has declared that you won't be together. But the moon would watch over you both," she said with a smile, trying to cheer Jayden up even though she was slowly dying.
Jayden didn't understand her words at all, he was to sad to even think, he hugged his mother who also reciprocated the embrace. The agents just stood there, watching while the captain scolded them.
"What the fuck happened? I thought i made it clear that she must be kept alive!" he yelled at the cadet who was in charge of the squad that raided Jayden's house.
"Sir it wasn't my fault, she had killed almost everyone on my team before Alpha squad arrived with backup. And even when they did, she was just too formidable, but that's not all sir..." the leader explained, his head hung low.
"Hm? Well," the captain retorted, urging the cadet to speak.
"I think I should sir, the cadets were a bit scarred after what they witnessed," a feminine voice said from behind the captain. It was a tall, mature woman in her late 30s and also the most high ranking agent in the area after the captain.
The captain turned back to face her and nodded. "Alright, what happened? This is exactly why I said we shouldn't bring second year cadets on a serious mission, but ofcourse the board didn't think this wipeout was serious enough," he complained before signaling for the woman to continue.
"Sir, the woman developed features which confirmed her as an oneiri, but later on she wasn't just an one anymore. It was like she had become a full animal," she stated
"Well we all know that the beastmen have those that have complete animal features, don't we?" the captain said dismissively.
"No sir, this was different. She wasn't just an anthropomorph, she was a humanoid beast. And after a while, there was no human features visible anymore. Sir... she became a full wolf," the woman replied, fear visible in her voice
