Principal Thompson

Jayden woke up the next morning with bags under his eyes, he didn't get much sleep. He stayed almost all night, researching about his newly discovered ability, but he didn't find anything helpful as telekinesis was a rare ability, and he's seemed to be more complicated. The system also didn't give him much info apart from the common definition of 'Moving objects with the mind'

He had also spoken with Jacob later in the night, who informed him that he could resume school whenever he wanted, and ofcourse he chose to resume immediately.

Jayden stood up from the bed and went to the bathroom, he had his bathe, dressed up in his uniform and went to the dining room where he had breakfast with the family and Jacob drove them all to school.

"Alright kids, have a good time in school today," Jacob said after dropping them, right before he took off again.

Jessica immediately started walking towards the senior building, where their classes were, while Tasha remained on the spot, as well as Jayden.

Jayden stared at Tasha for a while before decided to talk to her. "Tasha look, about last night i..."

"The principal should be around today," she said sharply, cutting Jayden before he could complete his sentence

"Today is an official school day, he'll definitely be in his office. I can lead you there if you want," Tasha added with a stoic expression

"Sure, I'll like that," Jayden muttered, his face also displaying zero sign of emotion.

Tasha didn't say anything else and just began walking, while Jayden followed closely behind her as they entered the building

As they walked, the silence between them was palpable. Jayden couldn't help but steal glances at Tasha, trying to read her expression. Her stoic demeanor was unnerving, and he couldn't help but wonder what was going through her mind.

They navigated through the crowded hallways, weaving past students chatting and laughing with each other. Tasha seemed to know the school's layout intimately, leading Jayden through a series of shortcuts and lesser-known corridors.

As they approached the administrative wing, the atmosphere grew more subdued. The walls were adorned with framed photographs of past school administrators and notable alumni, lending an air of formality to the area.

Tasha stopped in front of a large metallic door with a brass plaque that read 'Principal's Office.' She turned to Jayden, her expression still unreadable. "This is it," she said, her voice devoid of emotion. "I've decided to escort you inside, i have a feeling that I'll be needed, ready?"

"Yeah," Jayden replied

Tasha's expression didn't change, but she nodded curtly and pushed the button that opened the door. "Let's go," she said, stepping aside to allow Jayden to enter first.

As Jayden stepped into the principal's office, he was immediately struck by the sense of grandeur that filled the room. The walls were lined with dark, polished wood, and the air was thick with the scent of old books and leather.

Behind the large, ornate desk sat Principal Thompson, a stern-looking man in his late 50s. His gray hair was thinning at the temples, and his bushy eyebrows seemed to bristle with a perpetual sense of authority. His eyes, a piercing blue, narrowed slightly as he took in Jayden's appearance.

"Morning principal, i brought a new student to you for finalization, he had resumed two weeks ago but, an incident occurred," Tasha said respectfully

" You mean, the lightening incident?" the principal replied sharply, he was with no doubt a strict person who liked to get straight to business

Tasha was surprised while Henry's facial expression didn't waver. "Yes sir, that's the one," she muttered

The old man shifted his gaze towards Jayden and stared at him deeply before he spoke. "Jayden, is it?" he said, his deep voice firm but not unkind. "I've been expecting you. Please, have a seat."

Jayden nodded, his eyes darting to the chair in front of the desk. He sat down, carrying his usual confident aura, and this made the principal chuckle inwardly.

Tasha, meanwhile, had taken up a position beside the door, her eyes fixed intently on the Principal. She didn't seem to be paying much attention to Jayden, but he could sense her awareness of him, like a subtle hum in the background.

"I heard about everything that happened, including what you did. And for that, you have my unending gratitude, and apologies," the principal stated

Jayden simply nodded which caused the man to chuckle loudly, he was very intrigued by Jayden's behavior. But he looked up at Tasha and smiled. "Miss Smith, i shouldn't disturb your classes, you may leave. And on your way, look for miss Kate and inform her that i request her presence," he said.

Tasha nodded and was about leaving the room when Jayden called out to her, she paused and turned to face him

"Thanks for all the help," he said with an expression of gratitude

But Tasha didn't reply him, she looked into his eyes for a while before turning back to leave the room completely

"Okay, maybe i deserved that," he muttered to himself

The principal, on the other hand laughed slightly. "I don't know what's going on between the both of you but whatever you did to piss her off better be worth it," he said but Jayden didn't say anything.

"Alright, back to business, we sure have a lot to discuss, mr starrk, but let me begin with the past. I know about your previous... challenges in this school from years ago and i want to apologize for not helping the way we're were supposed to, for not being just and compassionate," the principal continued in a bitter tone, one filled with regret

"It's fine, what's done is done," Jayden muttered with an indifferent expression

The principal smiled wryly and continued. "Yes, and now a few weeks ago, you returned to us and saved a colleague of yours, only for it to end in a near death experience for you, and for that, we are deeply sorry," he stated

Jayden sighed. "Like i said before, it's fine, can we hurry this up? I need to catch up with lectures," he said sharply, not caring much for respect or whatever

This only made the old man excited. "Such a daring boy, oh he's definitely your kin alright," he thought

"Okay I'll get to it then, as a compensation and show of gratitude, both the school and parents of the girl you saved, have decided that you ask for one thing, anything at all," the principal explained

Jayden raised a brow. "Anything?" he asked as a form of confirmation

The principal smiled, he leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together as he regarded Jayden. His expression was serious, but a hint of kindness and cheerfulness lurked in his eyes.

"Yes, anything related to the school or to certain things that you think can help you. As long as it's within our capabilities, consider it done," he stated

"And what about the little rule you had miss Kate implement, i now believe that it was your handiwork, no?" Jayden asked with a serious expression

"Such a intuitive one, but you are correct, i did have her declare that no one taunts you. It was my way of helping," he replied with a chuckle

But the same couldn't be said for Jayden, who kept staring at the principal like he was a prey about to be hunted. "I didn't ask for your help, i will have dealt with it on my own," he retorted

"Hm, how? By beating them up? Then, that would have even been impossible, considering that you were not an evolved like most, but that can't be said for now, can it?" the principal replied with a diabolical smile.

Jayden was stunned but he remained calm, he obviously understood what the principal meant, but he didn't say anything

"Have you been able to discover it?" the principal asked with a curious gaze

"No, not yet," Jayden replied. He didn't trust the old man enough to tell him anything and even he himself, knows nothing about the ability.

"Hm, that's a shame, i hope you discover it soon," the principal muttered with disappointment

Jayden furrowed his brows. "Why?" he asked

The principal smiled in victory, he had intentionally said what he said, knowing that Jayden would be curious. "Well, now that you are an evolved, you can partake in the upcoming tournaments. First an intra-school tournament to prepare all the final year students and also for you all to display how strong you have become. And after this, the global interschool tournament would hold, and this would be the most important," he explained

Jayden nodded in understanding, but he still had some questions. "What is the aim of the global tournament?" he asked

"That, Jayden, is the key to getting into an academy. Scouts and sometimes leaders of academies in other planets would be present at the tournament. And after it's concluded, they begin to select students who they think are worthy of being accepted into their schools. Think of it as a easy way to getting admitted, because you wouldn't need to apply anymore, and frankly we all know that unless you have some serious connections, applying into the academies in other planets is pointless. They'd rather give them to students living in their planets and there are no high ranking schools in Alpha, unless you want to join the EVA cadets," the principal stated

Jayden clenched his fist. "No, not anymore," he muttered coldly

The principal clapped happily. "Good, both tournaments have rewards for the winners, but what's more important is to make sure to display yourself and showcase all what you can do, so even if you don't win, you'll grab the attentions of the scout," he added

Jayden clenched his fist even harder, he had wanted to attend any of the academies in the other 4 planets but without an ability, it was impossible and that was why he had settled for joining the EVA mecha agents. But now, things had changed, he had an ability and a mysterious system, this had altered all his plans.

"I would like to participate," he said

"I know," the principal replied. "But that can't happen if you don't discover your ability on time and get stronger, and i mean really strong, afterall you want revenge, don't you?" he stated with a mischievous grin.
