Evander groaned as he stirred awake, his head pounding like a relentless drum. He cracked one eye open, immediately regretting it as the morning light stabbed through the curtains and directly into his skull. A deep sigh left his lips as he turned onto his side, burying his face into the pillow. He hadn't drunk this much in a long time. In fact, he couldn't even remember the last time he'd let himself get this drunk. He blamed his friends.
With another groan, he pushed himself up on one elbow and blinked blearily at his surroundings. His vision was still a little fuzzy, and his throat felt like sandpaper. But the first thing he noticed was the empty space beside him. Delphinia wasn't in bed.
His heart gave a little jump, an reaction he hadn't quite gotten used to yet. He ran a hand through his already messy hair and dragged himself out of bed, his bare feet hitting the cool floor. He stumbled slightly but steadied himself against the edge of the bed.
