Nathan's green eyes flashed with deep and immense worry, his gaze fixed on the letter that had landed in Lord Javi's hands as he hurriedly opened it.
Nathan couldn't see what was written on it, and all he could do was study Lord Javi's face as he read the letter with surprising speed. A smile spread across Javi's face as he read it, and he tossed it onto the table the moment he was done.
The servant who had brought the letter knew better than to wait, and the door had just shut behind him when Lord Javi began to speak.
"Not a bad plan! It was good enough to kill all the bodyguards, and it was written that Cain and his lover would have gotten in if they hadn't stayed back at the last minute!" Nathan heard Javi say, but instead of feeling relieved, he simply felt his heart hammer stronger and faster in his chest as he noticed Javi turn fully to look at him. Nathan lowered his head even further to the ground.
