Crawlers

Once Caleb was in the basement, Liam gave him a sign to not make a noise, before gently closing the trap door. He tooks sometime to make themselves look disveled.

"Now kiss dear."

David did what was asked of me urgently, bitting too, before turnig to the door and slowly opening it, revealing, like they thought, crawlers. They didn't looked like zombies, but the red of their pupils gave them away, that and their aura.

"Yes? You are?"

The crawler looked at them, before smiling unnaturaly, looking too hungry.

"We were looking for our friend, he is a little clumsy and fear the dark. We found steps not far from here, we thought he was with you."

Liam acted like he was thinking when David played like he didn't have any idea of what they were saying.

"Oh! Are you talking about Caleb? You know, average height, round eyes, with a baby face?"

The crawlers narrowed their eyes, Liam only smiled, displaying sharp white teeth, David looked at them with gold eyes. The one clearly leading glared at the others before smiling again, more naturaly this time.

"You have a beautiful garden, didn't know it was so common to use corpses as nutriments."

"An habit of mine, David here say that it taste better."

They glared at each other, smiles sharpening. Tension crakled before something pass throught their eyes, they seemed to come to a consencus, something that only David noticed.

"We directed him down the mountains on a secure path, he must be already down here."

"Thank you, a pleasure."

The crawlers turned around and immediatly disapeared.

David immediatly closed the door, curious.

"What was that?"

"The crawler leading must be the closest to Caleb, didn't you remind you of someone?"

David's eye widen in recognition, "Daniel, that crawler just now was Daniel."

"Yep, the one and only."

"That mean, that Caleb doesn't have to say with us. Let me write the contract."

While David used his power to write a contract, Liam helped Caleb out, telling him to come help him pack a bag of supplies.

"They are really just gone?"

"No, not really, one of your friend, who became a crawler will kill them."

Caleb stopped in his track.

"What?"

"He'll come back for you after that-"

"You said-"

"That man clearly know how to control himself, and we never said that you can't come back, after all you are still in debt."

"S-so now what?"

"We are gonna send you two on missions, and he is powerful, with him you won't even feel that the apochalypse is here."

"And while you are away, we'll create another fortified cabin for the two of you", David said, presenting the contract, the paper shimering with raw power. "Read before signing."

With a determination he did not feel, Caleb read the paper.
