I hope you know what you've done because there is no going back.

"Washington D.C, U.S.A"

Thylonius- 16

"I hope you know what you've done. Because there is no going back"

The current status of the United States is a tumultuous one. This country has survived world wars without a scratch to their home soil but what seems to damage it the most is their internal conflicts. The country is more divided than its ever been despite it being well over one hundred and fifty years past its Civil War and sixty years past its battle with civil rights. Despite those conflicts the underlying prejudice is still very strong as the majority try to keep the ever-growing minority at bay numerically, educationally, and financially. The rich are taking advantage of the weakened leadership to redistribute the wealth and resources more to their side. The rich vs poor, the majority race vs minority races. A lot of citizens are taking notice of the strife and our speaking out. However, with the cost of living steadily growing more expensive and wages falling vastly behind that same growth. The suppression of the country's minorities is the least of the problems of a country that finds it hard to eat. An oligarchy is forming in this country where the only area that it leads the world in is military might. So, what happens when this once great democracy dies, and this new group takes over? The end is nigh.

. D.C. was more beautiful than I thought it would be. Well at least the capital and monument buildings were. The city itself was in near ruin. Poverty and crime run rampant. It wasn't unlike many places my sister and I had visited this past year, on our various "missions" for Lucius. Words still couldn't express how much I hated him but his advice was invaluable to us. Although, he gave it very begrudgingly and seldomly we were still kicking because of it. But this assignment. The one we were in D.C for. This is the mission that changed everything. The mission where we came into our own. The mission where our vision finally started to take shape. The mission that gave us our freedom. It started the same way each one did. A folder and a name of our target. The difference was that this one was dropped on my bed.

"What is this?" was my annoyed question. Lucius was in my room, I hated when Lucius was within ten feet of me, much more when he was in my room.

"Next assignment, plan and execute, this is your biggest assignment so you will need more recon and probably an assignment to set up this assignment"

"Why are you giving me this file? You usually give Ni the dossiers." I didn't like when he changed things up. Things were never good when he changed things up.

"I want you to take lead on this. This needs to be meticulous and well planned. As well as you two have done over the past year. You two leave a lot of cut up bodies in your wake, this can't happen this time. Moto Maua is true to her name, aggressive and head strong isn't what is needed for this. The deaths must be clean using misdirects making sure you're drawing no attention to yourselves. Basically, this is a mission for your more level-headed style, more finesse than your sisters heavier handed one."

I looked him in the eyes not sure if he was complimenting us or me or if he was just that matter of fact about everything. Then I remembered something. "You know, NiDaria is turning 18 soon, as she's about to graduate highschool" I pause and look down unconsciously before I get to my point. It's a stupid question because I already know the answer. "We're nearing the completion of our agreement, 'the end of her 18th year', are you prepared?" He looked at me blankly and scoffed.

"Don't play dumb even when I do go through the deal and trust me I will." He gives me an intense glare. "It won't matter that we part, you kids know too much and are too valuable to leave this life if that was ever your plan." I sigh and shrug my shoulders. The company was powerful, and their influence covered the entire globe. The only way we were to leave this life was in a body bag. We didn't know what we were getting ourselves into at that time and we ended up making a bad deal. Though, I can't say I hated this life compared to my old one. I lifted up the folder above my head.

"Have you told her?"

He showed me that evil smile of his. "I'll let you do that. She might try to kill me if I tell her myself and I'd hate to have to find a new hand to hand combat specialist. I don't really think I'd find anyone better and it would be such a chore." With that he walked out. I looked at the dossier. My eyes rose in excitement. I knew then that this assignment was more than even Lucius could imagine. I knew then that this was our ticket out from under him.

"Ni could you come in here please?" My sister didn't like being summoned but if you added a please you were usually going to get your wish fulfilled.

"You rang" was her sassy response clearly upset at being called upon. It would get worse. I threw her the binder which she caught with ease. "What's this?" she said with an edge. She knew exactly what it was but she wanted me to say it so it could fuel her anger

"Our next assignment" I said calmly. I could see the anger rising in her. She opened her mouth with one foot out the door. "Wait" I forestalled her. She waited. "Open it" She did it begrudgingly but once she saw the name she stopped and turned around closing the door while she did.

"Is he serious?" She asked. I just nodded. I waited to see if she had the thought I did. She did. "You know what this-."

"Yes. I do." She just smiled. "I already have a plan. He wanted me to take lead but if you don't want me to…" She shook her head

"No. This is you I don't like that he gave this to you first but this…" She gestured to the notebook 'this is you." I stood up and looked at her. She smiled "I mean what was he thinking giving us the Secretary of State as a target. How would he not think we wouldn't take it further?"

I smiled excitedly but still controlled. "If we do this right, this could be the beginning sis. If we can take out the U.S Cabinet. The whole U.S Cabinet. We'll be on the right path. The path to change the world."

If there was one thing Lucius was right about he was right that this mission was going to take more than one side mission. We were going to have to force an emergency cabinet meeting. We had the skills to trigger it but the tricky part would be getting the Secretary of State to come back to the U.S. As she is usually abroad in the Middle East doing "peace" talks but really looking out for America's immense natural resource interest. This was going to take longer than the usual prep time. We had to wait for school to let out for summer to execute. The planning took place over the last couple months of my junior year, Ni's senior year. She had already gotten into the school she wanted to attend: Cambridge. So, it seemed to her like the last months of school breezed by. She was excited for the mission and her going to another foreign school provided a perfect cover for the first part of our plan.

We made sure to visit during a very specific diplomatic event during one of Ni's Cambridge tours. Campus would be crowded with more security, but it should work to our benefit. I always made sure to accompany her for her visits. Looking like the eager younger brother scouting schools close to his big sister. It set in motion my own plans and also suggested a pattern if anyone was ever to look into us more closely. That was my job. To cover our tracks. To think of the moves ahead. I secured Ni (under a fake alias of course an American one at that) a ticket to the event as a bystander. The President of the United of States was in attendance as was the Queen of England, the Prime Minister and the Ambassadors to every nation that held oil interest in the Middle East. In layman's terms any country that could be seen as a terror threat. Part of our plan was to float small chatter that there would be an attempt on the president's life at this event. Burner social media accounts and chatter off of the dark web should do the trick. It was part of the job. Thirteen-year-old kids on social media do it all the time. We were smarter about it of course, using ever-changing IP addresses. The chatter was normal sounding for VIP appearances, so the idea was to have them on their guard but not on full alert. I wanted to see how they reacted to such a threat in foreign countries.
