Chapter 106: Let Me Tell You Something, Don’t Be Afraid

Chapter 106: Let Me Tell You Something, Don't Be Afraid

In the Land of Lightning, the Four Nations Alliance was now the second most powerful force in the shinobi world, only behind the Land of Fire. For Jiraiya to gather intelligence from such a place and return unscathed spoke volumes about his abilities and efforts over the past few years.

Clearly, he hadn't been wandering aimlessly during his absence.

"The Four Nations Alliance has gathered their strongest shinobi and countless researchers to develop a chakra cannon capable of obliterating multiple towns in a single strike!" Jiraiya reported gravely.

Minato and Sakumo's expressions grew tense.

During this cold war period, while the Land of Fire had been focusing on civilian development, it was clear that the Four Nations Alliance hadn't been idle. Their chosen path of advancement was weaponry.

If they truly succeeded in building such a cannon, it might not be able to directly target Konoha, but it would pose a massive threat to the surrounding towns in the Land of Fire.

Uchiha Kagami considered this for a moment.

In the original timeline, such a weapon did exist. It was mentioned during the battle against Otsutsuki Toneri, where the Land of Lightning attempted to power a cannon using Eight-Tails' chakra, claiming it could destroy the moon.

Of course, this was an exaggeration.

Anyone familiar with the true power of celestial bodies would understand the absurdity of such a claim. If an Eight-Tails-powered weapon could destroy the moon, then Black Zetsu's millennia-long plans to free Kaguya Otsutsuki would seem utterly ridiculous.

---

Minato pondered deeply. "We can't let the Four Nations Alliance go unchecked… Regardless of what they're planning, we need to infiltrate their ranks and monitor their movements."

Kagami smirked slightly.

"Minato, do you know someone named Nonō Yakushi?"

Minato blinked, caught off guard. "Of course. She's the director of Konoha's orphanage—a kind and beautiful person."

He glanced at Kagami, his expression turning speculative.

Minato couldn't help but think: Is Kagami finally asking about women?

Jiraiya's sly grin widened. "Oh, I've met Nonō before. She really is a stunning woman, Kagami. Are you—"

Sakumo, more practical, stroked his chin thoughtfully. "I know her too. She used to be known as the Wandering Priestess in Root. She's an excellent undercover agent… but she retired from Root a while ago. Sending her to infiltrate the Land of Lightning again might be asking too much."

Kagami, ignoring their tangents, cut to the point:

"You're all misunderstanding me. Forget the Four Nations Alliance; they're nothing more than a pack of pitiful weaklings huddling together for warmth."

His gaze sharpened.

"If I decide to deal with them, I'll wipe them out in a day. For now, just send someone to warn them."

"Warn them?" Minato asked cautiously.

"Yes. Tell them this: If they don't open trade routes with the Land of Fire, I'll personally kill their daimyos and Kage."

Jiraiya sighed, exasperated. "Kagami, you can't just throw out terrifying ultimatums like that…"

Unperturbed, Kagami continued: "Minato, send someone to the orphanage to find a boy named Kabuto Yakushi. If he's there, bring him to the Uchiha compound."

"What about Nonō?" Minato's tone turned teasing.

"Bring her too. I have plans for her," Kagami replied flatly.

The process of destroying a nation was simple for someone like Kagami. Building it back up, however, was an entirely different challenge.

To reconstruct Konoha after its destruction, he had needed architects, craftsmen, materials, money, and administrators.

It had taken years of effort, resources, and planning. His Susano'o might have been a god of destruction, but it couldn't lay bricks or construct buildings.

As for the Four Nations' weapon…

Kagami dismissed it as a minor inconvenience. He had other priorities.

Turning to Sakumo, he asked, "Have you taken in a Root member with the code name 'A'? He should be around ten years old."

Sakumo thought for a moment before shaking his head.

"No one by that name. The only ten-year-old I've seen is Tenzo, a young boy in the Third Hokage's personal Anbu unit. I thought about removing him from duty because of his age, but he insisted on staying."

"Rename him Yamato. It's easier for me to remember."

"Then send him to the Uchiha compound as well."

---

Kagami planned to train the next generation over the coming years. Among those outside the Uchiha clan, Kabuto Yakushi was the most promising candidate.

As for Yamato, Kagami was curious to see how his Wood Release abilities could evolve when paired with White Zetsu. It was an experiment worth trying.

Within the Uchiha clan, younger members like Tekka and Iwashi were talented enough to nurture into capable shinobi. Though, amusingly, most of them were slightly older than Kagami himself.

Still, Kagami considered them juniors.

He was building a system where his strength would lead, driving the clan's collective growth.

He didn't aspire to the Hokage position himself. However, he believed the Uchiha deserved a fair chance at leadership.

His preferred candidate was Shisui. But whether Shisui could rise to the occasion remained to be seen.

---

With their plans settled, Jiraiya spoke up.

"Kagami… The Great Toad Sage wants to meet you."

"Not interested."

Kagami's refusal was immediate and firm.

Jiraiya tried again, "But the Great Toad Sage mentioned a prophecy about you…"

Kagami fell silent for a moment before his eyes narrowed.

His tone turned cold. "Jiraiya, how long will you let yourself be controlled by that toad's so-called prophecies?"

Grabbing Jiraiya by the collar, Kagami's voice dropped to a growl.

"Stop letting some amphibian dictate your life!"

With that, he threw Jiraiya to the ground.

"Think for yourself. Live for yourself. Stop chasing illusions of a 'Chosen One.'"

Jiraiya sat in stunned silence, processing Kagami's words.

Minato hesitated but added softly, "Jiraiya-sensei… Maybe Kagami's right. Live for yourself, just this once."

Meanwhile, in the Land of Rain.

Black Zetsu emerged from the water's surface, his strange, plant-like form rising eerily.

The Akatsuki members, already assembled, turned to him.

"Everyone… I have something to say. Promise me you won't be scared."

Obito scoffed, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "We're not afraid of anyone, not even Uchiha Kagami. What could possibly scare us?"

The others, including Pain, remained stoic.

Only Kakuzu seemed shaken, though he tried to hide it.

Zetsu hesitated before sighing.

"I saw something in the Land of Birds—something that shouldn't exist."

"I saw the past Hokage, including Senju Hashirama himself."

The others exchanged skeptical glances.

Pain frowned, his Rinnegan glinting. "What are you talking about?"

Instead of answering directly, Zetsu activated a jutsu.

A projection appeared on the water's surface, replaying the events in the Land of Birds.

From the first meteor falling to the battle with Hashirama and Kagami's overwhelming presence, the scene unfolded before their eyes.
