The boss's laugh was cold and menacing, the sound reverberating off the walls like a taunt. He leaned back in his chair, his gaze never leaving Kai.
"You see," he began, his voice dripping with malice, "there's a very simple rule in my world: if you take what's mine, you pay the price. And the price is always death."
Before Kai could respond, the doors to the living room burst open. A group of heavily armed men stormed in, their faces grim and alert. One of them approached the boss and whispered something in his ear, but his words were loud enough for everyone to hear. "Sir, the men stationed at the gate... they're all dead."
At that moment the room froze. The boss's expression faltered for the briefest of moments, a flicker of disbelief crossing his face. He looked at the man and then back at Kai. "So, you've killed even more of my men," he said, his voice quieter now but no less dangerous. "Impressive. Reckless, but impressive."
