Upon hearing what Kai just Said.
The boss leaned back in his chair, his laughter echoing throughout the grand room. It was the kind of laugh that tried to mask fear with bravado, the kind that pushed others to join in, even if they didn't quite understand why.
"Superman? What do you think this is, some kind of comic book?" he said between gasps, wiping at tears that weren't entirely from joy. "You think you're some kind of hero from Wonderland or, better yet, some figment of someone's imagination?"
Hearing what Roland just said.
The men around him chuckled nervously, glancing at each other for cues. The tension in the room hadn't lifted; if anything, the boss's laughter only made it worse, a forced levity in the face of something undeniably unsettling.
However Kai still standing in the center of the room, his shoulders squared, his posture unshakable. His eyes didn't waver, locked on the boss as though he were staring straight through him.
