Not long after they arrived at the CBI Director's Office.
The room was larger than most, lined with monitors, shelves of classified files, and a panoramic view of the city. At the center of the office sat the Director, a sharp-eyed man in his late fifties, dressed in a dark suit that exuded power.
Immediately Lucas stepped forward with Kai beside him.
The Director's gaze locked onto him.
"How far have you gotten with the bank robbery case?"
Before Lucas could respond, another man in the room spoke up.
He sat in one of the chairs, arms crossed, his expression bored.
"It's a dead end," the man said. His tone was dismissive.
"I don't even know why Lucas is wasting time on this case."
Lucas' jaw tightened.
Kai watched as Lucas' fingers curled slightly at his side—annoyed, but controlled.
Lucas didn't even glance at the man. Instead, he looked straight at the Director.
