At that moment Lucas's fist clenched. His patience had already been thin, but hearing the boss toy with them sent a wave of irritation through him.
His eyes darkened as he leaned forward.
"You think this is a game?" Lucas growled.
The boss merely raised an eyebrow, unfazed.
Lucas gestured around the room.
"These illegal weapons. This whole damn operation. I could shut you down right now," he said, voice low but filled with anger.
The gangsters around the room shifted, some glancing at their boss.
Lucas' gaze was piercing. "If I wanted to, I could have you locked away. For good." The boss chuckled.
It wasn't a nervous laugh. It was mocking.
"If that were true, why haven't you done it already?" he asked smoothly. Lucas clenched his jaw.
Then the boss smirked. "That's right. Because you can't."
He leaned back, tapping his fingers against the table.
"You know damn well the law won't touch me."
