Chapter 10 Forgive Me!

The restaurant was a luxurious one which was often frequented by wealthy people.

When the people inside saw this group walk in, they just concluded they were someone's bodyguard.

But because of how scary the boss looked, they once again concluded that whoever they were guarding must be someone powerful.

"I didn't know the restaurant would be receiving an important figure today. Who could it be?"

"Where's the lobby manager? The lobby manager should know who he is."

Two people whispered to themselves.

Suddenly, someone took in a deep breath when the group of people got into the elevator.

"The one with the knife cuts on his face who looks very scary is the head of a notorious gang here in New York. They call him Rafter. But his real name is Joel Maximus."

His words sent fear into the spines of numerous people and one by one, they all returned to their seats.

Everyone knew Joel Maximus. He was a hound dog for the rich and powerful. He was responsible for taking care of and commuting numerous dirty deeds for them.

Joel was notorious and only believed violence was the best way to solve a problem. Coupled with the fact, he knew how to evade the law. This made him the perfect tool for those in power who didn't wish to get their hands dirty.

"But what could he possibly be doing here?" Someone asked, shaking in fear. Wherever Joel passed, there was blood.

The door opened, and a man rushed in, "I saw Moses Lake and James Roderick outside. I also heard them talk about getting even with someone called Dillon Grendel. Who the hell is he and what is going on?"

Everyone quickly recollected the news going around the internet where Dillon openly humiliated Moses.

"I just knew that kid was going to get himself in trouble. What did he even think would happen when he dared to hit Moses? Such a pity a vibrant young man like him would die a meaningless death." Someone sighed deeply.

While they pitied him, the person being pitted had no idea what was coming for him as he struggled to stop Timothy and Merlin from exchanging words.

"Can you stop exchanging words with him?" He hissed, directly a glare towards Merlin's direction.

Merlin, who was about to retort after being blasted by Timothy, seethed in rage.

"But why does he have to retort to everything I say? Does he have a problem with me?" Merlin asked Dillon in a voice that depicted that he had been wronged.

Dillon parted his lips, but instead of speaking, he turned his eyes towards the door. Timothy also did the same.

Seeing this, Merlin also listened. But when he heard nothing, he assumed Dillon was taking Timothy's side as well.

"You can just choose to be neutral and say nothing. I'm hurt that you're taking his side despite just meeting him today." He grumbled.

"Don't you hear it?" Dillon asked with a small frown.

"Hear what?" Merlin asked and listened again. This time, he heard it. Doors were being kicked open in an aggressive manner and it was just a matter of time before theirs was kicked open as well.

The door was kicked open seconds later and a man in a black suit appeared in their train of sight.

He glanced at the picture in his hand and then at Dillon. Then he took a step backward and yelled, "I found him!"

Almost immediately, the whole group rushed up to him.

Dillon was fast to perceive the murderous intent on their faces.

Joel walked in first, followed by his men. Then the door was locked from the inside. Right before Dillon's eyes, Joel's boys took out their knives and daggers.

"You have an incredibly pretty face. How could you even think of messing with Moses Lake? What a pity." Joel said emotionlessly, his eyes pinned on Dillon's face.

One of his men pulled out a chair for him before he ordered lazily, "Kill them."

Dillon hurriedly got up and placed Timothy behind him before urging Merlin to get behind him as well, "I heal, and I'm fast. Don't even think of fighting them."

"They have weapons, Dillon. They're going to kill you." Merlin scoffed, refusing to heed Dillon's words.

Timothy's eyes shimmered in awe. Although Merlin isn't as strong as Dillon, he'd still fight with him. In the future, he'd try his best not to trouble Merlin.

Dillon glared at Merlin, but didn't have enough time to reprimand him, as one of Joel's boys already got to him.

His muscles and sense organs worked on their own. Like they were used to it. They heard the sounds of footsteps, and the sound of the blades.

"See, I told you I could be of some…help." Merlin was saying after tackling one of them to the ground. However, when he turned, his mouth fell open, seeing the terribly injured men on the floor.

Okay, now he gets it.

Joel, on the other hand, narrowed his eyes. The eyes were blue and he fought effortlessly. The blue eyes was exceptionally rare and only a few got it. The Lake family wasn't even opportuned to have one of them.

His body trembled when he realized what was going on. Even if all the big families in New York came together to fight Dillon, they would never win.

"Forgive me, I didn't know who you were!" Joel said in a shaky breath, falling on his knees.

Dillon squinted his eyes at Joel for two seconds before he scoffed, "You only recognized me because your men failed to kill me. Is this how you operate? You bully the weak and fear the strong?"

"I'm nothing, but a dog who does whatever my master wants me to." Joel replied with his eyes lowered to the floor.

Dillon, who was holding on to the wrist of the last of Joel's men, standing, stared at his pleading face for a second before proceeding to break his wrist.

"Are you trying to buy your way out of the situation?" Dillon asked, raising a brow.

Joel gulped down and slowly raised his eyes to meet Dillon's, "No, I'll be your dog from now henceforth if you need me to."

Dillon was amused. Tilting his head to the side slightly, he chuckled, "And why would I do that? Just a few minutes ago, you barged in here asking for my head. I stand to question your intention towards me."

Joel closed his eyes briefly, "Then please, allow me to prove myself to you."

Dillon shrugged and said nothing. He watched Joel get up and leave.

"What if he goes to call more people?" Merlin asked worriedly.

"He won't." Timothy butted in and sat down.

The trio waited until they heard a familiar voice screaming, "You bastard, what do you think you're doing treating me like this? The Lake family will never let you off!"

Someone got flung into the room before Joel walked in as well.

This person was no other than Moses Lake. He hastily got up and gulped down nervously when he saw Joel's boys on the floor.

His eyes then settled on Dillon's face. Before he could fully process what was happening, pain shot up from his leg up to his brain and he felt himself falling to the floor. Joel had hit him.

"You don't stand when talking to Mr. Grendel. That's considered disrespectful, and I won't tolerate it." Joel hissed.

Yes, he would go this far to prove he was now on Dillon's side. Someone who has strength and money is the perfect master for him.
