Amelia stirred awake to the sound of her phone ringing loudly on the small table beside her bed. Her eyes fluttered open, and she groaned, rolling over to look at the screen. The bright light from the phone stung her sleepy eyes, but she managed to make out the name on the screen: Enzo.
She frowned, her heart skipping a beat. Why was he calling her? She didn't want to talk to him, not now, not ever. With a sigh, she turned her back to the phone and pulled the blanket over her head, hoping he'd stop.
But the phone kept ringing. The sound was sharp, cutting through the quiet of the small apartment. She ignored it, squeezing her eyes shut, willing him to give up.
It stopped for a moment, and she let out a breath of relief.
Then it started again.
Amelia groaned loudly this time, throwing the blanket off her. She grabbed the phone and stared at it, her finger hovering over the reject button. But before she could press it, the call ended.
