Chapter 4 Just Want to Ask Why

Chapter 4 Just Want to Ask Why

Mengyu inspected the jade bead; inside it, there were all sorts of items, too numerous to count. Various pieces of jewelry, an assortment of gold bars and silver ingots piled haphazardly, they were dazzling with their luster and opulence, blinding to the observer.

It was a treasure trove!

Besides wealth, there were all kinds of daily necessities: grains, cotton, cloth, alcohol, medicinal herbs, and so on. These items took up most of the space.

Jiang Mengyu felt a surge of excitement in her heart. She thought to herself, how great it would be if she could take things out of it.

For instance, the medicine for traumas and bruises which she needed most at the moment.

As soon as she thought about it, a box containing medicine for traumas and bruises appeared in her hand, complete with pills to be taken internally and a powder for external application.

Jiang Mengyu had picked some medicinal herbs at the cave's aperture before, but they were only good for stopping bleeding and weren't very effective for her broken leg.

But now with this medicine, she felt truly rescued.

However, what excited her even more was this treasure called a storage talisman.

Could all the other medicines, the wealth of gold and silver, the rice, flour, dried meat, cloth, and everything else inside be taken out as well?

She should have attended to her leg first, but now she couldn't contain her excitement and was eager to try out the items inside.

In the next moment, a chest filled with gold and silver appeared on the ground of the cave, followed by a bag of rice, a bag of flour, and also a large bag of dried meat.

But immediately, she realized her own foolishness. How could she possibly carry all these things back?

It would be great if they could be put back inside.

As soon as she thought this, the items whizzed back into the storage talisman.

It really was a treasure!

However, after a few ins and outs, she suddenly felt a vibration inside the storage talisman. On closer inspection, a crack had appeared on the surface of the talisman.

She was shocked and noticed that the other storage talisman was empty. She promptly transferred everything from the damaged talisman to the empty one.

When she finished transferring the items, the original storage talisman shattered.

Only then did she understand why there were two identical storage talismans; they were meant for the situation where one breaks, and you have to transfer the contents to the other.

Regrettably, according to the information from Jin Guang, she had to offer this storage talisman to something called the Witch God.

But who would willingly hand over such a treasure trove to someone else? The information only mentioned that offering the talisman to the Witch God would be greatly beneficial. It said nothing about any punishment.

Mengyu did not know that, in ancient times, the words Witch God were the highest directive, one that nobody would dare to disobey.

She thought again, the information stated that the storage talisman could not be opened, so why was she able to open it?

Forget it; she should heal her leg first.

She sprinkled the medicinal powder onto the wound first.

To her astonishment, as soon as the powder touched it, her wound began to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye.

My God, what kind of medicine was this?

If the external application was this effective, what about the internal one? She quickly took out a bottle of pills for treating bone injuries and swallowed them.

A warm current entered her belly, then circulated throughout her body.

She could feel something burrowing at the site of the broken bone, and it also felt a bit like ants biting.

She sensed that her bones were growing! Fortunately, she had properly set the bone earlier. Yet she worried; if she didn't set the bone well, could it possibly grow crooked?

She had the feeling that in a few days, she would be able to walk.

Even though now, with this treasure, she didn't need to worry about food and drink anymore, and could live in this cave for as long as she wanted, she still yearned to get out as soon as possible.

Now, she had food, drink, and a wealth of gold and silver. She could never consume or spend it all in several lifetimes; she could completely take the treasure and find a place to settle down and live the life of a wealthy person.

But she still wanted to see her parents; she wanted to ask them, why, did they have to treat her this way?
