Chapter 3: The Treasure
Mengyu is now in the middle of the cliff, unable to go up or down. Not to mention that she has broken a leg, even if her body were in good condition, the situation would still be terrible.
Climbing up would mean tackling over thirty meters of height. With her current physical state, she couldn't make it up.
Climbing down would be even more difficult with over forty meters depth.
But no matter how difficult, she had to try.
She had leaped off the cliff as a last resort, but now that she was away from the tiger's den, she very much wanted to survive.
Enduring the excruciating pain, Mengyu crawled towards the roots of the pine tree. She needed to find a safe place to rest first.
Finally, she reached the roots and discovered something unusual behind the curtain of vines.
She pushed aside the vines, and indeed, there was a cave.
From a distance, she heard shouts outside. Her heart skipped a beat; were those people still not gone?
Without hesitation, she crawled into the cave and rearranged the vines at the entrance to their original state.
She took a lighter from the cloth bag over her shoulder, ignited it, and saw that the cave was not deep or large, just about a dozen square meters in size.
However, with this cave, she could at least rest for a while.
She believed those people would not find this cave. Unless one climbed up to it, the entrance was practically invisible.
They would only search for her at the bottom of the cliff, and not finding her, they would retreat.
However, the dry food and water she had prepared for escape would only last ten days. After ten days, she believed those people would have left.
But the question was, could she walk after ten days?
Regardless, she had to try.
Mengyu picked some medicinal herbs on the cliff, dragged her injured leg, jumped towards the wall of the cave, and sat down.
She lit a torch made of pine resin and dry branches that she had found at the roots of the pine tree.
She then opened the bandages on her leg once more and set her own bones.
A surge of intense pain caused her leg to kick out involuntarily, and she heard a clanging sound.
What was that?
She saw a jar that she had kicked and broken.
She poked it with her hand, and two stone beads tumbled out of the jar.
She picked up the stone beads with her hand.
To her surprise, because there was still blood from her leg on her hand, the blood accidentally touched the stone beads and was absorbed by them.
The stone beads were absorbing blood! She almost threw them out in shock.
Thinking she was seeing things, she deliberately got some blood from another bleeding wound and touched it to the other stone bead.
Indeed, the stone bead absorbed the blood again.
At the same time, a chunk of information suddenly appeared in her mind.
This information explained the origin and usage of the stone beads.
To be precise, it was a jade bead, a storage device refined by a Witch God ancient times. The owner of the storage talisman was an ancient Witch God's Guardian—a person who had reincarnated from a treasure-hunting rat. After becoming the Guardian of the Witch God, her task was to seek various treasures for the Witch God, providing wealth and performing good deeds.
After the Witch God had passed away, this treasure-seeking Guardian also reincarnated, but she never forgot her duty, diligently searching for various treasures in each life, preparing food and necessities, always ready to aid the reincarnation of the Witch God in performing acts of kindness.
The treasure stored inside this jade bead was the collection that the Guardian had prepared for the Witch God in a lifetime.
The information requested that if anyone obtained this jade bead, they should deliver it to the reincarnation of the Witch God. In return, the information also included a Witch Body Cultivation Technique.
Mengyu felt depressed, so it seemed that the treasure within this jade bead didn't belong to her?
