Chapter 203: Master Of The Abyss!

The 'Scourge of Life' profession, though seemingly simple in structure, provided Novak with exactly what he needed.

Aside from the enhanced attributes with each level-up, this occupation came with a single core authority and two powerful skills—enough to unleash the full force of a true harbinger of disaster. The occupational authority acted as a passive effect, while the two active skills embodied the essence of devastation in pure form: straightforward, potent, and directly compensating for a critical weakness in Novak's prior combat strategy—the method of virus transmission.

Within the Abyss Trials, Novak's flu virus had often been unstoppable. Yet, even the flu required time to spread. In close combat situations, it could take significant time to infect and affect his opponents. And enemies like the Death Defenders on the third level of the Abyss, protected by thick armor and helmets, were partially shielded from airborne viruses, reducing his flu's effectiveness.

Now, however, the 'Scourge of Life' profession not only covered this gap but turned it into a strength. With the 'Plague Sun' skill, the virus could be spread through light itself, bypassing the usual scientific limitations. In this SSS-level profession, science was no longer a constraint. Even viruses that traditionally required transmission through fluids, blood, or direct contact could now infect through mere exposure to light. This method, while not entirely unstoppable, would be virtually impossible to defend against.

Moreover, the area that 'Plague Sun' covered was vast—so vast that Novak had to think twice before using it. The slightest misstep could lead to devastation, transforming any area he traversed into a lifeless wasteland, unless he meticulously used his 'Virus King' talent to control infections and shield his allies. With such a skill, his power to create extinction-level events was terrifyingly real.

While 'Plague Sun' excelled in swift, pervasive infection, 'Black Death' heightened the virus's lethality. Most of the demons that fell under the sun's dark green light succumbed not only to initial infection but to the ravaging effects of 'Black Death'. This skill intensified every virus in his arsenal, spreading infection with heightened potency and bringing death faster than any other known plague.

As the dark green light faded and the 'Plague Sun' dimmed, the remains of the afflicted creatures were left in its shadow, their lives irrevocably ended.

"My Friend, I'm really glad we're on the same side," Zogwort said, his voice laced with a nervous laugh. "But as a friend, let me advise you—use that ability sparingly, all right? It's a quick way to, uh, give people the wrong idea."

Novak chuckled, though his gaze had already shifted with anticipation to his second profession. If 'Scourge of Life' was already this formidable, what kind of unimaginable power awaited him as 'Abyss Master', the title said to be eternally beyond the reach of mortals?

[Abyss Master (SSS)': Special occupation. No additional attributes gained per level, nor secondary or tertiary evolutions. Professional abilities progress according to the number of Abyss layers conquered.]

Novak blinked, taken aback. The 'Scourge of Life' profession had delivered massive attribute boosts and numerous free points with each level. One of the key advantages of dual professions was precisely this dual boost in attributes. Yet, here was 'Abyss Master', a profession he'd pinned his hopes on, with zero additional attributes per level?

This didn't seem right.

Still, Novak kept his calm and continued down the page, focusing on the core ability granted to him as the 'Abyss Master.'

[Abyss (Professional Authority): As the master of the Abyss and the embodiment of infinite power, you hold the authority to ascend the Abyss layer by layer. Every level-up permanently increases current attribute values by 2%. For each Abyss layer conquered, you gain supreme control over that layer and permanently increase attributes by current Abyss layer*1. ]

(Note: The level of the Abyss Master has no upper limit. In theory, the Abyss Master can continue to level up as long as there are more layers of the Abyss to conquer.)

Novak's eyes widened as he processed the implications of this deceptively simple authority.

So this was why the 'Abyss Master' profession didn't need attributes with each level-up—it was all baked into this ability! With each Abyss conquered, the attribute multiplier scaled accordingly. Conquering the 100th level, for instance, would increase all attributes by 100. And if he continued—conquering, say, 600 layers—then the attribute bonuses would be astronomical.

In his mind, he quickly calculated:

'601*(600/2) = 180,300!'

And that wasn't all. Every level-up further added to this with a percentage boost, which, over time, with the base increase from Abyss layers, would stack up to enormous power. Even for gods, such attribute scaling would be an undeniable edge—this was pure, foundational power, a true measure of an evolver's strength!

And yet, this vast, scalable boost was merely the core ability of the 'Abyss Master.'!

Taking a deep breath, Novak moved on to see the remaining abilities.

[Power of the Abyss (Professional Skill): You may enter any Abyss layer from anywhere and exit the Abyss at will. As long as you do not harm any native Abyss creatures, no creatures of the Abyss (including gods) may harm you. No cooldown.]

(Note: This skill has absolute priority—no imprisonment or control can prevent the Abyss Master from entering or leaving the Abyss.)

This... Was the Abyss now his personal domain, a sanctuary he could access freely? Could he now visit the likes of Meikanxie or Winifred, or exchange insights with Abyss Lords and Demon Kings at any time?

Not fully comprehending the scope of this yet, he moved on.

[Abyss Transformation (Professional Skill): By channeling the power of the Abyss, you can transform other entities to serve the Abyss. ]

(Note: Skill adapts based on the user's level; currently cannot transform high-level beings.)

Novak tilted his head, intrigued but unsure of its potential. He'd need to test this one out.

Then came the next skill:

[Blood of the Abyss (Professional Skill)': Passive transformation. The Abyss absorbs all, contains all. As its living incarnation, you can possess and wield up to 9 distinct bloodlines without conflict.]

"Holy F#ck!" Novak couldn't help exclaiming. And yet, there was one more skill left.

[I Am the Abyss (Professional Skill)': If you die under any circumstances, you will be resurrected in the Abyss Well without loss of equipment, experience, level, or attributes. Passive, no cooldown.]

(Note: This skill has absolute priority, ensuring resurrection for the Abyss Master, purging all injuries and curses upon revival.)

"Holy…"
