The room fell into an intense silence, heavy and still. In mere seconds, the vicious intruder had been dispatched by Novak, who seemed almost like a celestial warrior descending from the heavens. The sisters, once filled with dread and resentment, now looked up at him with wide, admiring eyes.
Novak, however, felt a hint of regret. Pennydaek's talent was indeed exceptional—even as an S-class ability, the rank alone didn't convey its true value. His ability to accumulate attributes by defeating enemies was potent, a skill that had catapulted Pennydaek to such heights in such a short time, setting the path for his future as the "Ghost King."
Shaking his head slightly, Novak turned to the two sisters and offered a gentle smile. "I won't be staying in D-avao much longer, so before long, I'll take you two with me."
Yuzuru and Kaguya both hesitated. Kaguya, the gentler of the two, spoke up shyly, "But Uncle… Kaguya doesn't want to leave home!"
Smiling warmly, Novak offered, "Then Kaguya doesn't want to be with Uncle?"
At this, Kaguya quickly shook her head, her face full of innocence. "Of course I do! Kaguya wants to be with Uncle…" She paused, glancing guiltily at her sister, who was glaring at her with mild disapproval. Hastily, she added, "And I want to stay with Yuzuru too…"
Novak leaned in, his tone light but sincere. "But if something like this happens again, who will protect you? Without anyone to help, it won't be so easy next time."
Kaguya's expression faltered as she remembered Pennydaek's menacing presence just moments before. She seemed caught in a dilemma, while Novak merely blinked, understanding the sisters' strong bond with their home. Though he wanted them to come with him, he knew forcing them was not ideal.
Novak had made great strides in his own strength. In the past, he might have lingered in D-avao to consolidate his power, but things were different now. The entire Abyss was essentially his private domain; with its vast resources, he no longer needed to roam far and wide to seek power—not even in a place like D-avao the Capital City of the Faeloria country. He also had Meimei and could use her dream connection to collaborate with the members of Group 001 in his own time.
So what was the point of staying around here? Better to return to White Emperor City, to live as he pleased, basking in the life of an emperor amid the apocalypse.
Yet he couldn't simply abandon the sisters. He'd have to leave behind a safeguard for them, one that didn't involve heavy-handed coercion. Fortunately, he had a clever solution ready at hand.
With a swift movement, Novak produced a glass sphere, about the size of a fist, from his pocket. Without hesitation, he tossed it to the floor. As it hit the ground, a plume of smoke erupted, and a small, miniature counter appeared before him.
From it came the voice of Zogwort. "My esteemed friend! I didn't expect you to summon me so soon. Do you have news for me, or perhaps something I can help with?"
The sound was warm, almost familiar, as the God of Trading appeared. This "pocket shop" was no mere trinket; in Zogwort's words, it was a privilege reserved for super VIP members of the goblin shop. Not only did it offer exclusive discounts, but it also allowed for personal requests, making it incredibly convenient.
After Novak explained Yuzuru and Kaguya's situation, Zogwort also fell into deep thought. Then, with a sudden slap on his hand, he came up with a solution:
"Yes! Across the heavens and myriad worlds, countless professions wield immense power! Many of these are connected to their own domains and have the ability to mobilize territories! This young lady is a unique soul—a rare paired spirit body. There exists a profession that could perfectly match her needs!"
Novak's eyes brightened with excitement.
"Lord Zogwort, you…"
Zogwort immediately took a scroll from within his robes and handed it to Novak.
"This young lady's talent is fascinating, and it barely meets my standards for an investor. For your sake, my friend, I'm giving this to you!"
Inwardly, Novak was amused. This god of trade was starting to remind him of a magical problem-solver like Doraemon. But he also understood the deeper intentions behind Zogwort's gesture and smiled.
"Lord Zogwort, I've fully mastered the first through ninth levels of the Abyss. I hold the will of the Abyss and the authority of the Abyss Well. You're welcome to establish the Goblin Chamber of Commerce in any location on those floors."
Business, after all, was a two-way street, and Novak knew this well.
The little goblin laughed.
"My dear friend Novak, I haven't misjudged you. While the demons on the lower floors of the Abyss aren't particularly powerful, establishing the Goblin Chamber here signifies the start of our cooperation. A wise choice indeed! Farewell!"
With that, the goblin's pocket-sized store vanished without a trace. Novak then glanced down at the scroll in his hand.
[Earthbound Spirit Job Transfer Scroll (B+ Grade)]
[The undead have a way forward. Bound by a strong connection to a place in life and death, they can even draw power from it. Thus, the Earthbound Spirit.]
[Requirements: Dead soul body, Level 10]
An Earthbound Spirit? Novak was intrigued by the possibilities of this profession, linking personal strength to a place in such a way. Zogwort's extensive knowledge had indeed solved a major issue for him.
However, Yuzuru and Kaguya were only halfway through level seven, which, though impressive among evolutionaries, meant she was still short of the level 10 requirement.
Yet Novak was unperturbed; he wasn't planning to leave the Capital City immediately. He had unfinished business, namely, clearing the hidden realm of Red Star Mental Hospital and summoning the sixteenth member of the seventy-two demon gods: Duke of Hell Zepar. And bringing Yuzuru along wouldn't be a problem.
As his thoughts drifted, Novak recalled Ian, who had a significant connection to the mental hospital. He opened the 001 chat group, which he hadn't checked in a while, only to find a recent message from Ian.
[JustIan: Could a kind soul help me out? I'm so close to a job change… just need a little more experience…]
Novak chuckled and responded.
[White Emperor: I'll take you. Get ready—I'll come by soon.]
The entire No. 001 chat group immediately erupted in excitement.
