Monday Morning.
My alarm blares through the quiet hum of the room, the sharp beep cutting through the thin haze of early morning light slipping through the cracks in the curtain. My hand slams down on the phone before my eyes even open.
The soreness hits immediately.
My legs ache — a dull, dragging pull beneath my skin, radiating up toward my hips and curling into the base of my spine. My arms feel stiff beneath the thin weight of the blanket, the lingering burn from yesterday's run twisting faintly through the tendons beneath my skin.
I inhale slowly, my chest tightening beneath the stretch of movement as I sit up. My feet slide over the edge of the bed, pressing faintly against the cool surface of the floor. The early morning chill seeps through my socks, curling beneath my toes.
