Chapter 288: Prepared

How many corners does a deck of playing cards possess?

If I were to pose this question, most individuals would likely respond with “four.”

However, that answer is not entirely accurate.

To avoid the corners of the cards bending or cutting into the palm, playing cards are crafted with subtle curves at each corner.

This curvature is a detail even seasoned gamblers might overlook.

As I studied the cards earlier, I became aware of this subtle curvature.

Yet, I was examining the cards individually, and this particular ciphered deck requires the entire stack to be neatly arranged together.

Only then can one discern the exceedingly minute differences in the corner radii.

In other words, to identify the cards, one must do so immediately after the dealer shuffles them, while they remain stacked.

I must admit, deciphering this deck demands an extraordinary level of keen sight.
