After settling the bill and stepping outside, Ophelia expressed her gratitude once more.
After engaging in some light conversation, she inquired, “Judging by your accents, you’re not from Jingmen, are you? Here on vacation?”
As I contemplated how to broach a more serious topic, Ophelia unexpectedly asked me.
I seized the opportunity, feigning difficulty as I replied, “Actually, I had intended to visit an acquaintance of my relative, but I lack any means to contact him. He happens to be quite a prominent figure in Jingmen, and gaining an audience with him appears quite impossible…”
“What is his name?” Ophelia asked casually.
“Edmund!” I stated.
“Oh?”
Ophelia’s demeanour shifted slightly as she scrutinized both me and Lord Alaric, seemingly attempting to peer into our thoughts through our exterior.
“What do you wish to see him about?”
After a moment of hesitation, she finally queried.
“I merely seek to inquire about some bygone events worldwide…”
