Chapter 247: Death of Kurozumi Chanmaru

Chapter 247: Death of Kurozumi Chanmaru

A massive dragon tail swung toward Charlotte!

Seeing this, Charlotte slightly adjusted his posture, his body spinning 360 degrees in mid-air. The Seven-Star Sword in his hand pointed downward, meeting Kaido's attack head-on.

The tail, which carried immense force, was abruptly stopped by the sword's tip, unable to move forward.

As the sword made contact with Kaido's tail, the internal damage caused by Charlotte's Advanced Armament Haki (Ryuo) shook the scales loose. A ripple of air waves spread through Kaido's tail, tearing it apart layer by layer.

A gruesome sight unfolded.

Blood splattered, and Kaido's tail was left raw, as if the scales had been scraped off.

Kaido immediately recoiled, withdrawing his tail.

He glanced at the severe wound, watching it slowly regenerate. His expression darkened.

I'm not an opponent for him... Not even close!

But Kaido was not someone who would admit defeat so easily!

"Charlotte!!"

Kaido let out a furious roar, his body exuding a dark blue Conqueror's Haki. The aura surged outward, creating a terrifying pressure that spread in all directions.

The sheer force of his Haki caused people in nearby towns to faint in their homes.

However, Charlotte's men—his elite swordsmen—remained standing.

These were warriors carefully selected from his pirate crew, individuals with strong willpower who could withstand the overwhelming presence of Conqueror's Haki.

At most, they felt slightly dizzy, but no one collapsed.

"You dare release your Haki in front of me?"

Charlotte's eyes gleamed faintly with green light.

A powerful wave of Conqueror's Haki, akin to the depths of Asura's Hell, erupted from Charlotte's body.

Red and green lightning crackled around him as his aura clashed against Kaido's.

Two distinct domains formed in the air—one dark blue, the other a blend of red and green.

But within seconds, Kaido's aura crumbled.

His Haki shattered into tiny fragments of light, disappearing into the air.

"You dare challenge me in a battle of Haki?"

Charlotte took a step forward, his overwhelming presence pressing down on Kaido.

"Ahhh—!"

Kaido roared in frustration. His repeated failures had driven him into a frenzy.

His entire body, now covered in Advanced Armament Haki, lunged toward Charlotte with clawed hands ready to tear him apart.

"You don't know your own limits!"

Charlotte sneered.

The Seven-Star Sword in his grip glowed with a dense layer of Ryuo, slashing forward in a single, decisive strike.

BOOM!

The slash cut deep into Kaido's chest.

Blood sprayed through the air, and his thick scales were torn away.

Kaido's massive body was flung backward, crashing to the ground. He lay there, convulsing slightly, unable to rise.

Charlotte flicked his sword, shaking off the blood, before turning away.

That attack had been at full power.

When he used the same level of strength against Kozuki Oden, the samurai had been left bedridden for three days.

He doubted Kaido would be able to stand anytime soon.

Charlotte shifted his attention back to the battlefield at the city gates.

Kurozumi Chanmaru had just caught sight of him.

At that moment, he was utterly dumbfounded.

He finally realized the gravity of the situation.

Rockefeller Charlotte?!

The realization hit him like a hammer.

Then, he turned to the two warriors leading Charlotte's forces—

The girl wielding an icy blade… That must be Rockefeller Esdeath, the rising star of the Rockefeller Pirates!

And the five-meter-tall brute beside her… That must be Douglas Barrett, the so-called "Demon Heir" and Charlotte's vice-captain!

Kurozumi Chanmaru was going insane!

What the hell did I just do?!

His thoughts spiraled into chaos as he desperately tried to defend himself against Esdeath's relentless attacks.

But Esdeath had already noticed his distracted state.

"ASSHOLE! You dare lose focus in a fight against me?!"

Her frustration boiled over. The temperature around her plummeted.

Cold-Cold Fruit—Activated.

A frigid mist spread from her body, her presence becoming eerily chilling.

Kurozumi Chanmaru shivered.

The temperature…

It wasn't just the weather—it was her!

Wisps of ice crept through the cracks in his barrier, seeping into his body.

His movements slowed.

The cold burrowed into his bones, numbing him from the inside out.

"Fuuuhhh…!"

Esdeath exhaled, her breath visible as white mist in the freezing air.

Kurozumi Chanmaru could barely move now. His body stiffened as frost clung to his limbs.

Minutes passed.

Then—

CRACK!

The barrier shattered.

Esdeath smirked.

Kurozumi Chanmaru stood frozen in place, his body encased in thick ice.

A silent, lifeless statue.

Dead.

He had died without even realizing it.

Seven or eight years ago, Charlotte had spared his life.

But now, he had perished at the hands of Charlotte's daughter.

Charlotte chuckled softly, pleased by the irony.

But before he could speak—

"Brother!"

A shrill cry pierced the battlefield.

Kurozumi Murasaki had arrived, bringing the Beasts Pirates with her.

She stumbled forward, eyes filled with grief as she saw the frozen corpse.

But there was no response.

Her brother was dead.

Charlotte turned his gaze toward her.

The minions of the Beasts Pirates instinctively took two steps back.

His mere presence terrified them.

Meanwhile, Jhin and Quinn stood frozen, their eyes locked on Kaido's unmoving body.

They could hardly believe it.

Kaido had been defeated!

Their invincible captain, the man who had challenged the Marines countless times and survived… was lying on the ground, unconscious, his chest marred by a deep sword wound.

Jhin's hand rested on the hilt of his sword.

Quinn, now in his Brachiosaurus form, gritted his teeth, ready for battle.

Charlotte glanced at them.

Then dismissed them entirely, turning his attention to Kurozumi Murasaki.

"Long time no see, Kurozumi Murasaki," he greeted with a smirk. "Didn't expect you to be working with Kaido."

His voice was casual, almost friendly.

But to Kurozumi Murasaki, that smile was terrifying.

Her body trembled with rage and sorrow.

"WHY?! Why did you kill my brother? We were shipmates once!" she screamed.

Charlotte scoffed.

"If Rocks hadn't stopped me back then, your brother would've died seven or eight years ago," he stated coldly.

"Letting him live for a few extra years? That was already an act of mercy."

At those words, Kurozumi Murasaki staggered backward.

Her hunched frame seemed to shrink even further.

She had nothing left.

And Charlotte?

Charlotte had already turned his back on her.
