Chapter 250: Wano Country is Destroyed
By the time they arrived at Rabbit Bowl, the volcanic ash had not yet reached the area.
For the first time in what felt like an eternity, everyone saw bright sunlight again.
A collective sigh of relief washed over the crew.
They had been truly terrified.
Elena and the others emerged from their protective bubbles.
The moment the volcano erupted, Elena had used her Bubble-Bubble Fruit ability to encase everyone—especially the pregnant women and children—inside protective bubbles.
This ensured that none of them inhaled the toxic volcanic ash, which could have been fatal.
With six of the women expecting, she couldn't take any risks.
Even Charlotte's younger children—except for Esdeath and Caesar—had been tightly wrapped in protective bubbles.
Seeing this, Charlotte couldn't help but smile inwardly.
Elena had always been meticulous and thoughtful.
Now that the lava had finally stopped spreading, everyone exhaled in relief.
The crater had ceased spewing molten rock, and the volcano was settling.
From above, the destruction was horrific.
From an aerial view, more than half of Wano Country had been obliterated by volcanic magma.
The worst-hit areas included:
The Flower Capital—completely buried under lava.
Ximei—consumed by volcanic ash.
Kuri—half of the region was destroyed.
Ringo—large parts buried in ash.
Hakumai & Udon—damaged but spared due to river barriers.
The once-thriving lands of Wano Country had been reduced to ruin.
Many of its people—who hadn't escaped in time—were now buried beneath the destruction.
Charlotte estimated that at least half of Wano's total population had perished in the catastrophe.
The survivors, including the daimyos, stood in stunned silence.
Kurozumi Orochi collapsed, wailing in despair.
He had just taken over as Shogun, and now his entire kingdom was gone.
"Who... who did this?! WHO?!"
He screamed in rage, punching the ground like a madman.
Nearby, Daimyo Shimotsuki Ushimaru, leader of Ringo, watched the destruction with cold indifference.
As he stood over the ruined land, he didn't spare a single glance at the weeping Kurozumi Orochi.
To him, Orochi was never the rightful ruler of Wano.
Even if Kozuki Sukiyaki had officially named him as the next Shogun, Ushimaru never accepted it.
He had always believed Orochi had manipulated the Kozuki family into giving him power.
Now, seeing Orochi wail in despair, he felt a strange sense of satisfaction.
But that satisfaction quickly faded.
Though Ringo had been spared, Wano itself was ruined.
Rebuilding the country would take at least a century.
The loss of life alone was staggering.
Two-thirds of Wano's entire population had lived in the Flower Capital.
If even half of them survived, it would be a miracle.
Meanwhile, Quinn and Jhin carried an injured Kaido, leading the remaining Beast Pirates toward Rabbit Bowl.
Without stopping, they boarded their ships, preparing to flee Wano Country entirely.
Quinn hadn't forgotten one crucial detail—
Charlotte was still in Wano.
Now that Kaido was unconscious, they stood no chance against him.
Even if Kaido were awake, Quinn doubted they could win.
The terrifying slash that pierced the volcano had left a permanent shadow in Quinn's heart.
"Is it even possible for a human to do that...?"
If they didn't escape now, there might not be another chance.
"Move! Take only what's important! Leave the rest behind!"
Quinn barked orders, his face drenched in sweat.
Suddenly—
"Cough!"
A weak cough came from behind them.
Quinn's eyes widened in shock.
He turned around—Kaido was awake!
"Big Brother Kaido!"
Quinn rushed over, nearly dropping everything.
"You're awake!"
Kaido opened his eyes slowly.
"...Quinn."
His voice was hoarse, but his body stirred.
Then, his first words—
"Where's... Charlotte?"
Just as he finished speaking—
"Yohoho~! You called?"
A playful, mocking voice rang out.
A chill ran through the entire Beast Pirates crew.
Quinn snapped his head around.
A massive ship emerged from the corner of the bay.
Standing at the bow, looking completely relaxed, was Charlotte.
His eyes locked onto Kaido, amusement dancing on his face.
Jhin and Quinn immediately stepped forward, placing themselves between Kaido and Charlotte.
They were terrified, but they didn't back down.
"Step aside!"
Kaido, now fully awake, shoved both of them out of the way.
His gaze locked onto Charlotte.
"CHARLOTTE!!"
Charlotte smirked.
"Oh? Do you still want to fight?"
Kaido grabbed his mace, his muscles tensing.
"COME AND HIT ME!"
With a roar, Kaido charged forward, swinging his weapon with all his strength.
"Reckless."
Charlotte sighed, raising his Seven-Star Sword.
Without hesitation, he released a powerful slash.
CLANG!
Kaido barely blocked it, his mace shaking violently.
But his injured body couldn't handle it.
He was forced backward, his feet dragging trenches into the ground.
Charlotte raised an eyebrow.
Kaido's body was terrifyingly resilient.
Despite taking a direct Ryuo-infused slash, despite being blasted through a volcano, he had already recovered.
Even Kozuki Oden, after taking a single serious hit, had been bedridden for three days.
But Kaido?
He had been unconscious for just two or three hours—and now he was back on his feet.
Truly, the strongest creature on land, sea, and air.
Kaido, now steadied, gritted his teeth.
Lightning wrapped around his mace.
"Thunder Bagua!"
Kaido swung down with terrifying force.
Charlotte yawned, stepping off his ship.
He raised his hand casually, blocking the attack barehanded.
The shockwave exploded outward, but Charlotte remained unfazed.
Kaido staggered back, his breath heavy.
Then—Charlotte flicked his sword, coating it in Haki.
Red and green lightning crackled around the blade.
Kaido's pupils shrunk in shock.
"That's..."
"Haki Infusion."
Charlotte grinned.
Kaido had never learned this technique before.
His fists clenched.
"This is what I lack..."
Charlotte smirked.
"Good eyes. But that won't save you."
Charlotte swung his sword downward, ready to end it for good.
