Chapter 748: System Update

The system, using micro-electric currents, infiltrated Jubilife TV's central computer database and directly extracted the Porygon that had been resting comfortably within it.

The Porygon now in Cain's hands looked completely bewildered, unable to comprehend what was happening.

As an artificially created Pokémon, Porygon lacked the emotional authenticity of a Mewtwo. It had no true autonomous thought; all its expressions and movements were the result of collected and analyzed data.

Simply put, it was more like an advanced AI-powered computer that mimicked human emotions through its ability to analyze vast amounts of data.

It was somewhat similar to Rotom, but the key difference was that Rotom possessed true consciousness and a soul, while Porygon only simulated emotions.

So, although Porygon appeared confused, its reaction was purely superficial.

However, its current state of bewilderment was very real.

Thanks to the system's capabilities, Cain ensured that Porygon could not escape.

Then, he used both hands to hold it.

Porygon's body, being smooth and slippery, was difficult to grasp with mere physical strength. Cain had to use the system's micro-electric currents to keep it secured in his hands.

With a wave of his right hand, Cain created a new alternate dimension, different from the one used to confine the two Team Galactic members.

He entered this space along with his Gengar and the captured Porygon.

Outside, if Cain released Porygon, it would return to the digital environment, as if diving into a vast ocean. In that case, tracking it again would be far more challenging since Porygon would be on alert and protect itself from future captures.

Inside the alternate dimension, Cain let go of Porygon, which immediately began exploring the space, searching for something to connect to.

But in this completely isolated space, there were no electronic devices except those Cain carried. Even so, Porygon would have to approach Cain to interact with them.

The system scanned Porygon, providing the following data:

Pokémon: Porygon (Insufficient information for complete analysis)

Gender: Genderless

Level: 30

Type: Normal

Ability: Analytic

Held Item: None

Egg Moves: None

Basic Moves: Conversion, Conversion 2, Tackle, Sharpen, Psybeam, Agility, Recover, Magnet Rise, Signal Beam

Learned Moves: Ally Switch, Pain Split, Wonder Room

TM Moves: None

This was the first time the system had interacted with a Porygon, so it could not yet analyze its quality. However, given enough time, the system would be able to evaluate its potential through calculations and comparisons.

Although Cain had tried to find a Porygon in his past life, he had never succeeded. This encounter was the first time he had ever seen this peculiar Pokémon in person.

Porygon possessed two remarkable moves, assigned to it during its creation by Team Rocket: Conversion and Conversion 2.

The move Conversion allowed Porygon to change its type to match the type of the first move it used. For example, if it used a Fire-type move and then used Conversion, it would transform into a Fire-type Pokémon.

On the other hand, the move Conversion 2 adjusted Porygon's type based on the opponent's move, changing it into a type resistant to that attack.

For example, if the opponent used a Fire-type move, Porygon could change to a Water-type to resist it.

Both moves made Porygon a master of strategic adaptation, shifting its type to counter threats and maximize its advantage in battle.

Despite these impressive abilities, Cain's interest in Porygon did not lie in its combat potential.

Cain summoned Slowking, who, at an elite-level, easily defeated the level 30 Porygon. This allowed Cain to capture it effortlessly using a Poké Ball.

However, this was only the beginning. After capturing Porygon, Cain released it again, placing his right hand on the Pokémon's head.

Since Porygon was essentially a digital entity with no real emotions or consciousness, Cain had no moral objections to proceeding with his plan: using the system to take full control of Porygon.

After all, Porygon could be considered a computer with advanced functions. The system could intervene and manage it without issue.

"External database connection detected. Connect?" the system announced in Cain's mind.

"Connect it. Begin full intrusion," Cain ordered.

"Connection established. Creating external subsystem. Initiating data backup. Establishing initial link..." the system reported.

Due to Porygon's digital nature, the system could embed a program within it, functioning as a subsystem. This would enable a permanent connection between Cain and Porygon, regardless of distance.

With this link, everything Porygon saw could be transmitted as images directly to Cain's system. Additionally, the system could fully control Porygon without interfering with its analytical and decision-making capabilities.

If there was anyone in the world Cain trusted completely, it was himself.

With Porygon, Cain could extend his reach, delegating certain tasks while focusing on others. While Porygon couldn't physically replace Cain, it could relay his commands to other Pokémon, ensuring they were carried out.

The creation of this bond was the main reason Cain had been searching for Porygon.

Sitting on the ground, Cain patiently waited as the system established the connection and completed the subsystem configuration.

"External subsystem configured. Data successfully integrated. External subsystem detected. Would you like to perform a system update?"

Cain, surprised, hesitated for a moment before responding.

"Update? The system can be updated?"

This was the first time Cain had heard of such a thing.

"It must be because of Porygon..." he thought.

"Yes, proceed with the update," he finally said.

"Update initiated. The system will enter standby mode. Scanning capability will remain active. Please wait until the update is complete."

After this message, the system fell silent, entering a state of rest along with Porygon, which closed its eyes and collapsed onto the ground, inactive.

Both had entered a state of hibernation.
