Yan Yan and Bao Bao were on the phone when Aunt pulled Qi Yi aside to chat about family matters.
Yan Yan's uncle and parents were nearby, acting as "audience."
"You're Qi Yi, aren't you?" the aunt asked very kindly.
"Yes, 'Qi' as in harmonizing the Qi Family, and 'Yi' as in likewise," Qi Yi responded as he was asked.
"Are you still studying?" the aunt began to learn more about Qi Yi's situation. She hadn't heard much about him from Yan Ling.
"I graduated earlier this year and have started working," Qi Yi replied.
"Oh, is that so? Where do you work?" Yan Yan's aunt, experienced in arranging blind dates for her son, was well-versed in the art of "background checking."
"I work in New York," Qi Yi answered honestly.
"In New York? But our Yan Yan is in Melbourne, you two are quite far apart," the aunt commented disapprovingly. She didn't like New York, especially after Yan Ling's divorce, which only soured her opinion of the city further.
