Chapter 10 Together

Despite Jiang Li wanting to leave campus, he still waited until Liang Zhouyue's class was over.

The students trickled out, and Jiang Li asked Chen Dan to go downstairs first and get the car ready, as he had some matters to deal with.

Chen Dan's eyes were filled with ambiguity. As he left, his reluctant steps revealed a heart eager for gossip.

It wasn't until the classroom was left with only Liang Zhouyue and Jiang Li that he rose from his seat and, with a carefree stride, approached the lectern.

"Do you have another class later?"

Liang Zhouyue felt a bit flustered by his question, fearful of misspeaking and exposing a flaw. Yet, she wasn't someone adept at lying. After a mental struggle, Liang Zhouyue pursed her lips and chose to tell the truth, "I have a class this afternoon, around two."

Jiang Li nodded upon hearing this, his eyes twinkling with interest, "I'm heading to the race track later, would you be interested in joining me?"

He didn't hold much hope in his heart, as Liang Zhouyue, from her appearance to her attire, didn't seem like someone who would enjoy racing. She appeared very quiet, perhaps someone who would spend her time reading or watching movies, not someone interested in extreme sports.

But a flash of excitement suddenly appeared in Liang Zhouyue's eyes, and her usually even-tempered voice took on a teasing tone, "Motorcycles or something else?"

Slightly surprised, but with a smile as gentle and harmless as ever, Jiang Li responded, "Both, what do you like?"

"I like motorcycles," Liang Zhouyue said, holding her teaching materials. She turned and gestured for Jiang Li to walk out, continuing to inquire as they moved, "Do you often go to races?"

In truth, Liang Zhouyue was a contradiction. Although she gave off an intellectual and gentle impression on the surface, her bones were filled with heated blood. She had always harbored a strong yearning for extreme sports, but over the years, she never had the chance to pursue this passion.

She was also a bit fearful, scared that she hadn't prepared enough and something might go wrong.

Seeing Liang Zhouyue's interest in the topic he brought up, Jiang Li hummed lightly and glanced at her delicate and seductive profile, his eyes revealing a touch of a different, entangled thought, "I'm also a racer, how about I take you for a ride later?"

Liang Zhouyue just happened to meet his dark, inscrutable gaze, her heart skipping a beat as her breathing slowed down.

Her fine voice stuck in her throat, unable to come out. After hesitating for a moment, she carefully shook her head, "No, I'd better not go out."

She was indeed interested in racing, but if she were to spend the entire day with Jiang Li, she felt she couldn't maintain control.

She feared being overpowered by him.

Jiang Li understood what Liang Zhouyue was worried about, and since his own pace was too fast, he decided to slow down the rhythm, "Then let's just go watch the race today and nothing else."

"..."

Nothing else...

Liang Zhouyue subconsciously found this phrase strange, but in the current context, it seemed barely acceptable.

The two were still in a stalemate when Chen Dan's call came through, his tone full of complaint, "Princess Lili, aren't you coming down yet?"

Jiang Li's expression darkened, and he smoothly turned the volume down and brushed off the call with a few words before hanging up.

Liang Zhouyue accidentally heard Chen Dan's nickname for Jiang Li, her lips twitching slightly as she tried hard to suppress the laughter that threatened to bubble up.

Jiang Li licked his lips unnaturally, "Are you going or not?"

That Chen Dan kid was rushing him, and if Liang Zhouyue really didn't want to go, he would need to head downstairs right away and not delay any longer.

At his words, Liang Zhouyue twiddled her fingers, paused, and then agreed, "I'll go."

...

Liang Zhouyue hadn't had time to put her books back in her office before leaving. She had first stashed them in Chen Dan's car.

She had assumed that Chen Dan would drive and Jiang Li would sit in the passenger seat. But he didn't. Instead, he followed her and took the seat in the back, inadvertently making Chen Dan seem like a driver.

Chen Dan merely sighed and half-jokingly complained to Liang Zhouyue, "Mr. Liang, you're so pretty. Have you been attracting wolves since you were young?"

Liang Zhouyue paused for a moment, turned her face to look at Jiang Li sitting beside her, and her misty eyes made her seem a bit slow on the uptake.

Jiang Li's lips curled up, and he raised his eyebrow at the woman in front of him, "He said I'm a lecher."

His straightforwardness left Liang Zhouyue slightly embarrassed.

The woman tried to naturally avert her gaze, dodging Jiang Li's intense look, and calmly replied, "Ever since I was young, I've had few boys around me. They never liked playing with me, and I don't know why."

Though her demeanor was evasive, her words were true. Despite everyone praising her beauty, very few men actually liked her, or at least very few expressed it.

At that moment, Jiang Li leaned back, his posture lazy against the back of the chair, his eyes showing the tiredness of satiated desire, and he slowly uttered, "Blind to what's before them."

Liang Zhouyue was taken aback, then silently lowered her eyelashes.

The topic was dangerous, and she didn't think it was necessary to delve deeper.

The silence from the two in the back row piqued Chen Dan's interest, not in women, but in racing.

The two of them, along with a few mutual friends, were basically part of the same social circle, but since the two were young and shared the same interest, they were both deeply addicted to racing.

The only difference was that Jiang Li had his own racing team and would participate in competitions. Chen Dan was purely into analysis and investing, without engaging in any practical racing.

"I heard from Ah Lan that you have a race in Zhuhai during the National Day?"

Jiang Li withdrew his gaze from the woman, leaned his head back, slowly closed his eyes, and in a low voice that lacked interest responded, "I signed up long ago, haven't had time to practice."

Chen Dan was skilled at driving, and as the car left the school, it quickly entered the wide avenue.

"So you won't be able to accompany me abroad for the National Day holiday?"

Jiang Li hummed lazily, "I never planned to go with you in the first place."

"..."

Liang Zhouyue lightened her own breathing and unconsciously began to read the room.

Although Jiang Li and Chen Dan seemed on good terms in front of others, witnessing their back-and-forth conversation now, there was no lack of tension.

Chen Dan, upon facing Jiang Li's rejection, clucked his tongue in a tone full of regret, "You're really mean, not loving me at all anymore, huh?"

"..."

Liang Zhouyue couldn't help but laugh, which seemed particularly out of place in the silent car.

Jiang Li lifted his eyelashes that were as black as crow feathers, his peripheral glance slowly and forcefully overwhelming her, his gaze enigmatic, "Found something amusing?"

Liang Zhouyue coughed awkwardly and softly denied it, "No, I just think... you have a really good relationship."

Good enough to make her feel awkward.

"Mr. Liang, don't get the wrong idea, Brother Li likes girls, and I like girls too," Chen Dan idly joined in the conversation, becoming playfully shameless, the complete social rascal, completely familiar.

Still not completely out of her embarrassment, Liang Zhouyue now smiled gracefully, her delicate face with light makeup slightly blushing, she didn't know how to respond further, and could only follow the other's lead, "I'm not misunderstanding, of course I know."

Turning her head, she unexpectedly collided with a pair of lazy black eyes, brimming with laughter, intently fixing on her, filled with strong interest.

"What do you know?" Jiang Li asked her.

Suddenly finding her mouth a bit dry, Liang Zhouyue licked her lips, her eyes flickering.

After silently locking eyes for a couple of seconds, her voice came out small, "I don't know anything."

Jiang Li was amused by her quail-like demeanor, finding her genuinely adorable, so soft, so delicate.
