Chapter 1:

"Noah wake up it's your awakening day." Ella spoke these empty words knowing they wouldn't wake the heavy sleeper known as her older brother Noah, she followed up by splashing a large bucket of ice water.

"I'm up, I'm up" Noah said dramatically as the chill of the ice water seeped into his bones, raising him out of his comforted state. He had slept through his alarm. A regular occurrence for him with the late nights that he pulled to make extra money by helping his neighbors with odd chores.

Luckily he had an amazing little sister that made sure he got up on time otherwise he would sleep till mid day. With the loss of their parents it was hard on them. Ella was only three at the time, with the seven year difference Noah felt he had to become the responsible older brother and take care of his little kind sister. Their parents had died in the beast swarm that attacked the city several years ago. As he looked at his sweet little sister knowing how how important awakening day was he began to reminisce on their dad's words, "we are training in case the worse happens. You will need to be prepared for whatever comes, if there is a day your mother and I can't be there to help you have to be ready." Those words hung on him, they were gone and nothing would bring them back. 

'The world is a dangerous place.' Noah thought as he looked at Ella. She was sweet and innocent, he couldn't picture the small blond with bright green eyes slaying monsters if anything she would be like their mother a great healer. 'She would save lives, not take them.' 

After the swarm of beast that had taken their parents, It was a day that the city still remembered it was a dark day. Due to his parents sacrifice, the government stepped in giving Noah and his sister a place to stay and money to live off of until he graduated. When that happens he would have to support his sister as her guardian.

Still soaking in ice water he realized the time, "Oh crap I'm going to be late." scrambling out of the bed he started changing clothes, putting on some F-rank gear that the school gave to the students, it wasn't anything extravagant just some light weight leather armor to protect student's until they could afford something better. He ran past the kitchen grabbing a banana, "in a rush sis i will see you later tonight." Noah said rushing through the front door and bolting down the street to get to the school's private dungeon where the awakening ceremony would be held.

Student's had started to gather around a gate getting in line in alphabetical order, a teacher checking his watch for the time, sighing knowing that the ceremony would be starting soon. "Make sure you are ready and in line properly before the event starts!" he called out to the students who had arrived. 

Noah ran past street after street, checking his watch, noting the time. sweat had started to bead on his forehead as his breathing became labored. 'I can make it' he thought as he pushed himself harder, HIs feet kicked off the ground propelling him forward, his arms swinging by his sides as the breeze pushed his hair back. A smile cracking on his face as he felt the sheer adrenaline of the run.

The teacher looking over the students that had gathered coughed gaining the student's attention. "Let's get a roll call. Then we will assign everyone into their team for today. As usual we will be doing teams of two. It shouldn't be too dangerous but if something does occur inside the dungeon all the teachers are on stand by to help and keep everyone safe." Stated before going through the students one by one calling their name. 

"Alright everyone find a partner for the dungeon dive." Mr. storm had a sour face seeing that one of the students wasn't in attendance. 'Noah I swear you have always been a disappointment no wonder your own parents didn't want you.' the teacher thought to himself. 

Noah knew this was his best chance to get a class knowing he didn't have a class item to help him awaken. Learning the previous year that there where three ways to awaken, the first being a natural awakening, the second being a class item that would facilitate the awakening, and the third was by entering a dungeon and killing a beast himself. 

Noah was grasping for air as he held onto his knees to keep himself standing. "Glad you could show yourself Noah. Tardiness is not acceptable, you are lucky we don't kick you out of the dungeon dive all together. if you cant find a partner then you will have to enter the dungeon alone." Mr. storm scuffed as he pointed to the large crowd of students.

All of the students stood in pairs waiting for Mr. Storm's instruction on what they were to do next.

"Everyone come up in order and grab a broch, then slowly go through the dungeon gate." Mr. Storm yelled. 

Noah waited and he was the last to go through, even though he didn't find a partner he held strong. Even his best friend Izzy was partnered up, no mater what Noah was set to awaken and grow stronger. With the other students and teachers looking down on him, 'He would get a class and work hard to support his little sister, he would show them he was strong, he would show them not to look down on people just because they had different upbringing.' he thought to himself as he stepped through the gate into his first dungeon.
