Ire of The Dragon God of Death II

(Third Person POV)

There were screams.

Screams filled the streets of the city as multiple buildings burned. Nobody knows how the fires started but they took the smallfolk by surprise. The buildings collapsed as they were ablaze, a couple of people died instantly and most of them were injured.

In the dark of the night, the glow of the flames illuminated the city and were able to be seen from the Red Keep.

As the City Watch had tried to put out the flames, people were running from the buildings that were set ablaze. The fire was slowly spreading towards other buildings, catching people and burning them.

Jaehaerys could see the fires from a balcony in the Red Keep, a scowl on his face.

"T-This cannot be...." He said

He then saw a massive shadow fly over the city. He recognized it to a dragon, completely black with green eyes. The King immediately knew that this was Drakken and his dragon, The Cannibal. He watched as the beast flew away from the city.

"So this is my punishment....Drakken..." Jaehaerys said as he turned around and walked back inside

In the room, Alysanne was sitting down on a chair, sobbing.

"I cannot believe it has come to this, Jaehaerys...." Alysanne said as she looked at her husband, "What did we do to that person? Why is he treating us like this?"

Jaehaerys stopped and looked at her, "I...."

The doors opened and Aemon walked in, his face was pale and his eyes were full of shock and fear, "M-Mother....!" He said, "Father...."

"Aemon!" Jaehaerys said, "Are you well? What happened?!"

"Baelon and I confronted Drakken in the Dragonpit." Aemon said as he walked over to his mother, "He...."

Alysanne looked at him, grabbing his hand, "W-What is it?" She said as she sniffed, "What is it, my boy?"

"He killed us...." Aemon said, shaken up, "Dozens of times...."

"What?" Jaehaerys said

"He ripped our bodies apart like we were nothing....!" Aemon said, "And put us back together....he....did it over and over again as he kept shouting in our ears! Father...he is angry...very angry....."

"That...." Jaehaerys clenched his fists, "I don't know what to do...."

"We need to find out a way to quell his ire, Jaehaerys...." Alysanne wiped her tears away, "Please, otherwise more people will suffer!"

"I don't know what to do!" Jaehaerys exclaimed, "No matter what I offer, he will not accept it!"

Aemon looked down, "Did he take her?"

"Who?" Jaehaerys asked

"Maegelle." Aemon said

"N-No." Alysanne said, "She's here, in the Red Keep."

Almost in cue, Baelon entered the room while followed by Alyssa and Maegelle.

"Mother!" Baelon said, "Are you alright?"

"Mother...." Alyssa ran up to them, "I heard what happened. The city....there are fires.....how could this happen?"

Maegelle slowly walked up to them, a surprised look on her face, "Mother..." She said softly

"Maegelle." Jaehaerys said, "What....what did you tell him? That man?"

"Who? Dr-" Maegelle said before Baelon immediately covered her mouth

"Don't say his name when he's not here!" Baelon said in a hushed tone, "You know who we mean."

He took his hand off her mouth and Maegelle merely cleared her throat.

"I...." Magelle started, "I told him that my Faith will not be shaken by him nor anyone. I even discussed what it meant to be a god. And that The Seven were my true gods. That is all."

"And that's what causes him to lash out in anger?" Alysanne said

"That makes no sense." Jaehaerys said with a serious scowl

"No. It does." Aemon said, "When he was ripping Baelon apart, he was telling us all about his godhood. That man.....he was not always a god. He had to reach that point. He told us that he fought for so long to become what he is. And now that he is what claims to be, he will not be disrespected by false idols and absent gods."

"So he's a man?" Alyssa asked, "That much has been obvious!"

"No, Alyssa, he isn't just a man." Baelon said, "He truly is one! A god! No man, no sorcerer can do what he did to Aemon and I! He....killed us!! Our bodies were mutilated, our hearts crushed! Every single thing you can fathom! Yet we didn't die! We felt every single ounce of pain!"

Jaehaerys walked towards Maegelle, "It is because of what you told him that all this happened, Maegelle." He said seriously, "A girl that was promised to him instead looked to another religion."

"I....I was promised to the Faith." Maegelle said with a frown, "I did what you told me to do, Father. My faith won't change because a man that I don't even know decides to lash out on innocents! Our gods are true, they will punish him!"

"He's punishing us." Jaehaerys said, "Our Family. Our people."

"S-So, I am to take the blame?" Maegelle stepped back

"That's not what I said." Jaehaerys told her, "But if he didn't take you with him....then that must mean that he's still angry at what happened...."

"I find it strange that he did not harm her..." Alyssa said, "He choked me the first time I met him!"

"I remember that day well..." Baelon said with a serious scowl

"Did he say anything else, Maegelle?" Aemon said, "What exactly happened?"

"I..." Maegelle said, "I felt no danger from him.....despite everything I told him...."

"That's impossible." Alyssa said, "I feel danger even thinking of him. How can you not feel danger when he's right in front of you? He could have easily cut your head off with a single thought, sister!"

"I don't know." Maegelle said as she looked down, "I was simply more focused on my prayers....please forgive me....."

Jaehaerys narrowed his eyes, "That is interesting...."

********

Atop the Cannibal, Drakken stood with his arms crossed.

The dragon was gliding through the air as they were going to make their way back to the Riverlands. The God of War and Death was angry, that much was obvious. But there was something on Drakken's mind that had been bothering him the entire time.

A single girl was able to make him act like this after so many years he's been in this world. A single girl whose faith did not waver. Drakken had seen the doubt and fear in Barth's face and eyes whenever he is around. He knew that the Septon was able to question his faith, even a little bit. And it overjoyed Drakken, it gave him so much pleasure in doing that.

But Maegelle was different. She did not waver.

And the words she told Drakken angered him. And no matter how angry he was, he did not bring himself to harm her. Was it divine intervention on her side?

No.

Subconsciously, Drakken was intrigued by her. He reminded her of a certain person from his past, someone he does not remember very well.

Drakken scowled, "That stupid girl." He said as he looked ahead, "Nobody has ever made me feel that way. My ego...my pride....it was shattered by her!!! Making me act like this!! But it's not like they did not deserve it....!!"

He looked down and thought really hard about it. He was sure that Maegelle was not going to denounce her gods so easily.

The mere thought of that somehow gave Drakken a bit of excitement.

A vicious smirk appeared on his face as his sharp teeth were shown, "Hehehehe...." He laughed, "Interesting!! A pious girl! A little girl who is capable of hurting my pride??"

"I want her even more!!!!"
