Leon stood by the window, staring out at the view from his study, but his mind was elsewhere. The doctor's words from yesterday still echoed in his ears, a constant reminder of his failures. He couldn't shake the guilt of how he had neglected Emma since their marriage.
"Sir," Aunt Mei's voice broke through his thoughts. She was standing at the door. "Madam is awake."
"She is?" Leon turned sharply, his initial excitement faltering as he processed the news. His eagerness to see her quickly gave way to uncertainty. How was he supposed to face her now?
"Sir? Are you okay?" Aunt Mei took a cautious step forward, noticing his distracted expression.
Leon gave her a light nod, though his mind was still racing. "I'll go to her in a moment. Can you bring the porridge you prepared earlier, and make sure to include all the medicine she's supposed to take?"
Aunt Mei took her leave and went straight to fulfill her orders.
