Not My World

Leon stood frozen, his hand resting on the edge of the bed as Emma's words echoed in the room. Her anger was sharp, cutting deep into wounds he didn't realize were still raw.

"I know I don't deserve your forgiveness," he said again, his voice lower now, as if admitting it more to himself than to her. "I know what I did to you was… unforgivable."

Emma let out a bitter laugh, her eyes glistening with fresh tears. "Unforgivable doesn't even begin to cover it," she said coldly. "You treated our marriage like a business deal. You married me and then left me and what, for three months? Without a word? Without even trying to know me?" 

Her voice rose, trembling with the weight of the emotions she'd bottled up. "And then, when you finally came back, when I thought maybe, just maybe, things would be different… it was all for nothing."
