Ava was standing at the side of the Moonhaven camp, watching the last rays of the sunlight disappear at the back of the trees.
The warmth of the day had just started to be cool as she was thinking about Ethan and the journey she was about to embark on.
She had faced many battles, near-death experiences, and revelations that really shook her world, but this, standing here, knowing Ethan was somewhere near her, felt like the most tormenting moment of all.
She had spent many days avoiding this conversation, doing too much training and preparations for their journey.
But no matter how hard she tried, she could not even escape the ache that she was feeling inside of her.
The sound of approaching footsteps made her stomach turn immediately.

She turned slowly, and there he was, standing a few steps away from where she was.
