THIRTY-EIGHT 

The deep forest was still looking like a long journey before them, it does not even seem to end since they have been moving.

Ava held the reins of her horse very tight, feeling the unease settle very deep in her mind.

They had been traveling for three days now, pushing forward beyond Moonhaven's borders in search of answers.

Asher had sent Micah and two other warriors along with them for their protection, though Ava suspected it was not just for that but more to keep an eye on her than anything else.

Caleb, riding beside her, had been kind of strangely quiet, his sharp eyes were scanning their surroundings as if he was expecting any ambush at any moment.

"You are really tense," Ava murmured.

"You are not?" Caleb did not look at her.

"I'm trying not to be." Ava sighed.

"Maybe you should try harder." Micah, riding just in front of them, let out a very bold laugh.
