"You don't understand. I should have told her everything from the beginning. If I had, she would not even be in this mess." Sophia turned to face him, her eyes were flashing with emotion.
"You think knowing the truth would have stopped this? You think Ava would have just sat back and let things unfold differently? She is not just built that way, Sophia. She never was." Lorenzo studied her for a moment before shaking his head.
"She should not have to fight any battle alone." Sophia swallowed hard, looking away.
"She is not alone, she has Moonhaven now, and she has people who are willing to stand by her, fight with her." Lorenzo reminded her.
"And what about us? What about the people that are still trapped under Jenkins's rule?" Sophia's voice was shaking.
"That is why we are here. I did not get you out of there just so you could sit in a safe house and just think about your guilt. We have work to do." Lorenzo's jaw tightened.
